The parallels between Black Hole and One cannot be understated, they're mirror images:

both made a terrible mistake and were eventually both given the opportunity to reconcile, but one chose to burn every bridge and the other chose to pursue pacifism.

Black Hole is burdened by his powers. His fear of destroying everything he loves, his fear that his power will take away the things that make his life meaningful. He's desperate to save lives despite his inherent power to take them, his PACT means more to him than anyone can imagine.

But One only wanted more power. She was reckless and broke Three, then only doubled down when breaking free of the Moon. More power. More destruction. Burning every last bridge until she can get to the thing that ruined her life and not caring what happens along the way.

Both have power. But while one tempered it, the other only twisted and abused it.

Black Hole is a pacifist despite everything. The crack in the sky reflects his fears at him, it nearly destroying everything he loved just as he once feared he would. And it continued to threaten his life well after, leaving him scared and clinging to it every day after hoping to keep it at bay, a rupture in reality created by the carelessness of another, the carelessness of One.

His fears of power unchecked appeared before him during that last challenge, faced him down, and trapped him in a box, where he can't protect anyone. Imagine his fear, his panic, his worry. This is everything he was afraid of.

But for One, it was all according to plan.
