im doing this post to share with the rest of the world how things are in mexico.

so on august 3rd a 17 year old girl was returning from a party in the night. she was just a few blocks of her house when 4 police officers grabbed her got her on their car and raped her. they let her go, she went with her mom and they reported the crime and the government did nothing. because “there wasn’t enough prove” even though the girl visited the doctor and the doctor confirmed she had been raped. this is one of the many cases of police officers abusing women in mexico and like in the other cases, justice hasn’t been done.

after this, a hashtag started on the social medias called #NoMeCuidanMeViolan which means “they don’t take care of me, they rape me”and yesterday, people were marching on the streets. we are mad, we tried to protest with pacific ways on social medias, with letters, even dancing.

but now we are mad. we are mad that our voice is not been hearing. we need justice, we need respect, i don’t like to live with fear. i don’t like the feeling of leaving my house and don’t know if i’m coming back.

August 3rd, a 17 year old girl was raped by 4 police man in Mexico. Sadly, this isn’t the only accusation of sexual abuse, but what cause the indignity was that, though she presented a complaint, the police man kept working as if nothing had happened. Fed up with the system, thousands of women have been protesting all over Mexico. Ironically, the government felt really offended when in one of the protests, some women threw pink glitter to the man who is the head of the Secretary of cytizen security. In Mexico a woman is raped every 4 minutes. If you are in the ages between 15 and 45 you’re more likely to be raped and murdered than to face cancer or AIDS, 40% of the population has suffered some kind of abuse and95% of this situations remain impune. I know this is not a blog that talks about politics or anything like that, but I need to say it because violence against women is on peak this couple of weeks in Mexico. We can't even trust the police because they rape us too. So if this is my last post, if this is my last week or my last month and you're reading this when I'm gone please know that I want you to rise up, to scream, to burn everything in your way. I don't care that men mock you and say you are an exaggerated feminist because thank God you are, because then you know you are just like your great grandmother to whom I owe my right to vote or your grandmother to whom I owe my right to have a college degree. I don't care that you are from a different country because I know you live in fear too. If you're reading this when I'm gone, know that I screamed, fought and yelled, that I scratched, spat and kicked and above all that I didn't die in silence, because they want us silenced and like Audre Lorde said, SILENCE WILL NOT PROTECT YOU and I want to go knowing that I was the last girl that had this tragic fate. RISE UP
