I’m down. You wanna come over? They’re not here right now
Yeah I'll come over, just have to tell my grandparents

[15 minutes go by before there's a knock at the door]
[Fletch opens the door, grinning]
Hey, bud, how you doing?
[Emris is in his usual clothes and for once there isn't the smell of cigarettes coming off him]
"Alright, therapy and such getting me better"

[He smiles just a little bit and walks in, finding somewhere on the floor to sit]
What are we thinking for their birthday so far? Any ideas?
"Something that's small and probably in the nether, they don't like crowds or strangers maybe walking up to them to wish them happy birthday so probably nothing in public"
We can invite your family and their friends here? We’ve got plenty of space
"Mhm, should we tell them? Sometimes they like surprises for their birthday but sometimes they don't"
[Emris grabs one of the snacks and starts to eat it]

"Alright, I think they work their birthday so we should maybe try and convince them to take it off?"
We can do that, i could call off for them? Call their job, say theyre too sick to call and tell them they need the time off?
"Yeah- tell them they need the time off and tell their job their sick. Okay that's handled, now it's just who from the family to invite, of course me and mom"

".. Maybe the ones on mom's side, they haven't spoken to the ones on dads side in years and I don't think they want to on their birthday"

"A few of their coworkers from all the different sections, they only have two from the overworld"

"I think so, or at least the ones from the nether and end. The overworld and aether ones I'm not sure about, especially their overworld ones. I really don't trust them"

"Okay, so that means we have Saskia, Velaris, Espen from the nether. Aeris from the aether, Virexa, Auralyn and Casimir from the end. That's friends/coworkers"
Okay. Can you think of anyone else Knox might want here?
"Probably only a few of our aunts and uncles"
Sounds like we have a party guest list
"Yeah, now it's just trying to brainstorm gift ideas"

"I don't want to gift them anything that relates to boxing so that makes it even harder"

[Emris just hums, he doesn't say anything self deprecating but he also doesn't agree or say thank you. He just grabs a small notebook from his pocket and starts to write everything down]

[Emris keeps writing and Fletch can see that he actually has very nice handwriting, it's almost cursive]

"Not really, I really don't have any friends to celebrate with. No one wants to be friends with a guy that's part ender, a boxer, and an asshole"

[He finishes writing and stands up, he's already super tall and he's probably not done growing either. He might get taller than Knox]

[He walks outside and pulls his slightly long hair into a low ponytail, it has to be a culture thing from the end as Knox also keeps hair slightly long despite it being a potential issue with boxing or teaching]
[Fletch stays close, looking around for a food place]
[Emris looks around before pointing to a barbecue shop]

[He nods and walks inside, looking at what they have to decide what he wants to eat]
[They hum quietly, looking]
[He walks up and orders a couple steak kebabs as well as grilled corn]
[He orders himself a few chicken skewers, handing over the money]
[While waiting he abstinence mindedly plays with one of his necklaces, it's the one that holds his father's ashes]
