My Last Term’s Saturdays’

Kids always fill my heart with so much joy! 🌻

Around kids, I’m ecstatic! You know when you finally get the kids’ confidence, they open up to you as transparent as pure water which reflects the vulnerability of their soul. They tell you stories and dreams. They ask you very prank yet innocent questions. They laugh at and with you over littlest things. They give you the most genuine smile from amongst the people you see throughout the day.

At this point in my life, honestly I find it ironic every time I realize how I easily get too attached with kids but hating the thought of having one of my own in the future. It’s so weird of me to feel a twitching sensation whenever I think of childbearing. Nonetheless, I wish to have kids stick around. Maybe, the reason I get emotional and too close to them is; the feeling of having a sibling at hand transients.

I regularly go home for the weekends, but most of them were missed over staying to be with these kids. The travel to get to their school consists of almost 1 and half hours of hike to and from under the hot sun and humid air. This was our Saturday routine and all of it was very tiring especially for non-hikers like everyone else in the class. But I tell you, the instance we get to the top; not one of the kids fail to give us the warmest smile saying “Hi, Ate Net!” or “Andyan na si Ate Net!” or “Nasan po si Kuya Karl?” or “Kasama niyo po si Kuya Migs?” The sweaty hike to warmest welcome drill lasted ‘til the last meeting.

I thank God for these kids and thank Him even more for using me as one of His instruments to give joy and knowledge to His children.
