Inuyasha's universe is very vast, full of potential and of strings to pull. Rumiko only focused on explaining what related to the central story, but throughout the series many unexplored parallel lines open up to us, which could have become spin offs, prequels or sequels. However, it was decided to opt for the ānext generationā theme, making the risky decision to make Sesshomaru have kids, something that, as many of you have grouped, does not make any sense. But if the bad decisions had ended at this point, the series could have been saved from being handled differently.
One of the things that most offends the public's sensibilities is the little interest that the protagonists show in discovering their own past. Since the girls have been conceived as a kind of "self insert" for the viewer, why not do it right? If there is something that both the audience and the characters want to find, it is the truth about what happened to their parents. Based on this common concern, the public and the protagonists would have related, starting a story of intrigue full of clues and action. But alas, neither the girls nor the remaining og characters seem interested in this past.
The plot is absolutely dark, unsolvable in only 24 chapters, but we still find filler. No consecutive narratives are introduced to follow, thus developing unknowns and granting resolutions. There is therefore no real development of the story, only anecdotal facts with individual pieces that do not evoke any type of intrigue, only confusion. The mysteries must induce intrigue, but Yashahime being a true cash grab that takes advantage on our nostalgia, can afford to not even try. Instead of writing a story, each episode is an excuse to avoid it. In short, if the tale that you want to tell us has any kind of relevance, it should be noted, because for now all we have are loose pieces and meaningless digressions.
Looking at this development, the only conclusion possible is a rushed end, leaving many things unsolved, since the only attractive of the series is an enigma thatās not even introduced for real.
