I don't think anyone is going to read this, but I'll write it anyway. My life has been hectic for the past few months; my grandma's in the hospital, so that's not fun.
I've also been debating what to do with my writing. I want to be a writer, but I don't think it would be viable as a full-time career at this point in time.
I'd still like to write fanfiction, but writing as a career? I don't think it's my best choice.
I don't know; I figured I'd explain to anyone who still looks at my blog.
I'd like to update more, since I'm not putting so much pressure on myself to be successful. Because I like posting on here, I just never do. But I'd like to start again, maybe finally post some of my fanfiction to AO3.
Can we talk about how amazing is the concept of Magical girls killing other magical girls ? ! ? !
We’re talking about Suzune Magica as a magical girl who kills other magical girls to try to stop the cycle of suffering (the inevitable cycle) because once you become a magical girl, there’s no escaping the fact that your fate is to become a witch. So she thinks that by taking out magical girls early, she’s ending their suffering, and in a way, the suffering of everyone else too. But what I really love about her is that she feels like a witch hunter, because to her, magical girls are like eggs that are eventually going to turn into witches. So, deep down, in her mind, they already are. In the story, magical girls do turn into witches, but I love giving Suzune that concept, and it makes me kind of sad that it hasn’t been explored more.
Let's assume that in this AU, Luz is offered a contract. What would she wish for? Would it be something she thought through? Or would it be her jumping at the chance to be a real "witch"?
For the sake of this idea, she would wish to be "just like The Good Witch Azura." I haven't watched TOH since it ended (if I end up writing this story, I'll rewatch it), but from what I recall Luz looked up to Azura a lot (or I can assume with context clues), and even stated she wanted to be like her.
Now here's the part I'm excited to talk about; the power Luz gets. In Madoka Magica, the wish you make translates into the power you receive (make a healing-based wish, get healing-based powers). Luz wanted to be like Azura, copying her. So perhaps she receives a form of "copying" ability? As in, she can copy the abilities of others (much like Suzunne or Hanna). However, I like to call her gimmick "gotta catch them all," because I imagine her being able to copy the unique magic of different witches and trace their magic seals to use again in the future. I guess she would have a spellbook of some kind where she could draw these sigils, and somehow channel their magic with a staff (which I imagine being shaped like a pen or something).
Idk, does any of that make sense? I've had this idea for a while, but I never expanded upon it. If I ever end up writing this, I'm going to rewatch the series before deciding what to do.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while; my life has been hectic the past month. But I'm doing better now and hoping to be more active next year. Maybe post some of those stories I never got around to?
I've been trying to prioritze college. I'm doing pretty good right now, so I'd like to start writing fanfiction again. I used to have a story on AO3 a few months back called "The Fallen Stars", but I deleted it because of it's poor quality. But I'd also like to go back and rewrite it. People liked it, I just wasn't satified with it's quality at the time.
If enough people are interested, I can talk more about it.
I only just recently started playing this game, but I find it to be fun. I even got Homura!
She and Madoka have been reunited at last! I got Kokoro and Masara around the same time (maybe even the same 10x roll?). Yachiyo's there too, I guess (Sorry Yachiyo, maybe someday they'll release Mifuyu).
Does anyone else ever want to do something but then they see something terrible on the horizon or in the news and decide to doom spiral on the couch when you should be doing something else important instead?
Happens to me all the time. I just want to live my life in peace! But no, I have to worry about everything, even the things that aren't impactful in the slightest.
I've been sitting on this idea for too long with nothing material to show for it, so I might as well speak it into the world so somebody else can enjoy it and maybe make it themselves:
PMMM Witchswap AU: An alternate universe where all the Magical Girls encountered in the series are Witches by the start, and all the Witches encountered in the series are Magical Girls by the start.
So, instead of Mami, Kyoko, and Sayaka, you have Candeloro, Ophelia, and Oktavia. Instead of Charlotte or Uhrmann, you have Nagisa and Inui Itsumi. So on and so forth.
In my head, I like to think that the focus of a Mitakihara-set Witchswap story could be that the girls all learn about a very special Witch that is incubating somewhere in the city, its Grief Seed waiting to hatch (like Charlotte's in Episode 3): Kriemhild Gretchen. Kyubey surmises that Kriemhild's Grief Seed is uniquely capable of holding an effectively infinite amount of Soul Gem impurity, and so any Magical Girl that obtains it would never have to fight Witches again, allowing them to return to a normal life.
Thus begins a race against both the clock before Kriemhild Gretchen hatches & destroys the world in just a few days, and against all the other Magical Girls hunting for the same treasure.
Naturally, a theoretically infinite recharge Grief Seed would be able to give all of these Magical Girls normal lives, but only if they trust each other enough to share. But if they think any one of them might whisk it away for themselves, then that motivates them to just keep it for themself instead. It's a self-fulfilling thing.
Not to mention the girls would have to decide between trying to defeat Gretchen and keeping the Grief Seed, or giving it straight to Kyubey before it hatches so as to ensure the world won't be destroyed.
I like to think that Kriemhild Gretchen's Familiars would be able to leave her still-forming Labyrinth and they'd be found in the Labyrinths of the rest of the Holy Quintet's Witches. If a Magical Girl encounters these Familiars, they'd be able to track their magical signature and be better equipped to search for & find Kriemhild Gretchen's Grief Seed.
(I suppose an infinite recharge Grief Seed could also fit Shitori Egumo/Embryo Eve/Ui Tamaki, but I like to think that in a Magia Record Witchswap AU, Ui is fine and it's Iroha that becomes a Witch instead).
The existence of a magical girl is a bleak one, with nary a break or respite in their eternal lifelong battles. For their wishes, which they’ve traded with their very souls, they are bound by this fate of bloodshed. However, within this community, a little rumour begins to spread within Japan’s cities of Asunaro, Kamihama, Kazamino, and even the wrecked Mitakihara. It’s said that there is a witch, powerful enough to destroy the world in only 10 days incubating somewhere . If a magical girl is able to kill this “mega-witch” they would obtain a grief seed able to hold a virtually infinite amount of curses, allowing a magical girl to quit being one entirely.
Many magical girls begin to search for this witch, all grasping for the paltry hope it offers or to save the world from it’s destructive power the witch it birth will bring. Who will obtain this grief seed? Who will fall in their pursuit of this treasure? Only time can tell.
I was inspired by this post by @garr9988, where the witches are swapped with the magical girls of the main series, and Madoka’s/Gretchen’s grief seed is able to hold a near infinite amount of curses, allowing any magical girl holding the grief seed to effectively allowing a magical girl to quit being one entirely without the threat of becoming a witch. This of course attracts a bunch of magical girls who want an escape from the system that entraps them or want to save the world from Gretchen’s “heaven”. The story’s protagonist is Elenore Hoffman, the magical girl behind Gertrud.

One of the many magical girls who is looking for the fabled mega witch. Distrustful and suspicious of everyone who approaches her, she’s notably cold hearted, a far cry from the magical girls on TV. She’s incredibly territorial, especially regarding both her witch-hunting territory and her small rose garden. She hates other magical girls and is even a bit of a misanthrope. Under all the thorns and armour she puts on, she’s simply scared, tired, and depressed from all her years as a magical girl. Her guilty pleasure is playing high stress arcade games.
Elenore was born to an affluent family and was raised by her loving father. She adored plants, and her father even gifted her with her own personal garden. However, her family was incredibly old fashioned, and she was expected to be married to a man she didn’t know. This forced marriage was a nightmare for the young Elenore, and she made a wish to escape the marriage itself. The marriage strained her relationship with her father, and the two rarely talk nowadays. She initially was hopeful, that she could both be a hero, and meet some new friends. But every time she joined a team, they ended up betraying her or kicking her out so that grief seeds would go around more easily. She self isolated from everyone, and became extremely territorial with her witch hunting, often fighting and severely injuring other magical girls who trespassed. When she learned the truth about witches, she wasn’t even surprised. She was already accustomed to disappointment and hurt, so why not add on the fact that she was a murderer and could become a monster? The reason she’s searching for the fabled mega witch is to finally quit being a magical girl, move out of her father’s house, and finally be free from it all.
TRIVIA
The only thing she grows in her garden are red roses. When it was originally given to her, it had pink and white roses, but she specifically planted and cared for red roses after the forced marriage.
She was a lot more amiable when she first became a magical girl, but became more cold hearted as time went on.
Elenore prefers coffee to tea. She can’t tell the difference between oolong, black, green, or rooibos tea.
Her father is worried sick about his daughter, but doesn’t infer with her life because he knows he has no right.
She actually is covered in freckles, but covers them up with makeup.
Despite her generally unfriendly demeanour, she has an aversion to swearing.
She and Amelia have a “thing” going on between them.

A member of the Biker Gang “Kamikaze”, Amelia is one of the most intimidating characters within the main group, easily able to break up fights with a simple glance. As a magical girl, she’s a force to be reckoned with, not only utilizing her motorcycle with brutal efficiency, but also bringing in numerous enchanted items ranging from razor blades to even whole street signs into battle as well. Underneath her threatening aura is a soft-spoken, somber soul. She regrets her wish badly, but is too ashamed to return back to her hometown, especially now that she’s joined a biker gang. She and Elenore are acquainted with each other as veterans, but don’t interact much on account of both of them staying on their sides of town. She has a bad smoking habit.
Amelia grew up in a small coastal village, with only her mother as her last living family member. Her family worked as fishermen, with her father dying during a storm. Amelia wanted to give her mother a better life, and she believed the best way to do that was focus on her studies and get a job with a lucrative pay. She was exceptionally gifted, and even managed to skip a grade. However, no matter how gifted she was, there was one hurdle she wasn’t able to overcome; the cost. The train ride to Kazamino combined with the tuition fee would be too much for her family to afford. So, she made a wish to be able to go to her college without issue. When she arrived however, she found herself struggling to keep up with everyone in her class. She barely managed to scrape by her first year, and due to her financial status, she was looked down upon by her classmates. She graduated at the bottom of her class with no recommendations. She was too ashamed to return back to her mother, and was extremely depressed from 4 years of bullying, academic failure, and nights spent hungry. She eventually joined a biker gang, as it was the only place she was relatively accepted. She feels like she has no future, and didn’t have any intention of hunting down the mega-witch, but got roped in due to her owing Elenore a favour.
TRIVIA
She’s actually averse to violence, but fights out of necessity. She doesn’t start fights, she ends them.
Very well versed in sociology, law, history, and philosophy. She didn’t go to a prestigious school for nothing.
She picked up smoking when she joined Kamikaze. After some of her teammates die, she makes an effort to quit.
Swears like a sailor because she was raised by one.
She grows extremely close to Yangin, due to their ties to the education system’s corruption and genuine love of learning. Yangin learns to advocate and speak out from Amelia, and Yangin reignites Amelia’s desire to learn and teach others.
She has her father’s wedding ring. She never wears it as she feels like he’d be ashamed to see how she turned out. After finally locating the mega witch, she finally wears it.
Ironically, despite growing up next to the ocean and spending the first 14 years of her life eating fish, she has a shellfish allergy.

Semi-famous influencer and admin of the Maginet, Angelica is the type of person to make you stop in your tracks. She’s always dressed head to toe in the most eye catching colours, acrylics that seem impractical, and always tapping away on her phone. She’s the centre of a multitude of Internet controversies, especially pertaining to her often making call out posts to other influencers. As admin of the Maginet, a social media site made by magical girls, for magical girls, she’s surprisingly partial when it comes to sharing information.
In reality “Angelica”, or rather Toshiko is a NEET who used her wish to become the person she is online. Ever since she was young, Toshiko struggled with interacting with others, forming severe social anxiety. She loved and envied idols for their confidence and ability to garner both positive attention and love, and she genuinely desired to be one. The only thing stopping her from taking an audition was her social anxiety. The only place she felt confident in was on the internet, she eventually dropped out of high school to spend all her time at home. She knew she was pathetic, only finding engagement by starting drama online, but she didn’t know how to put herself out there. After making her wish, she gained the ability to switch her persona when she transforms, doing a complete 180 whenever she goes outside. In contrast with Toshiko’s gloomy, anxious, and bleak outlook on life, “Angelica” is bright, energetic, sociable, and in Toshiko’s opinion, “radiant”. However, she knows very well that all her connections she made as “Angelica” are fake and shallow, and is still jealous of others, especially Yangin later on in the story.
TRIVIA
She likes messing with Amelia due to her not using the internet all that much. She jokingly calls her “dad” sometimes.
Most of the money she makes off of sponsorships is usually spent on her gacha rolls.
She cyberstalks her old classmates.
She’s baffled on why Yangin is so well liked in the group compared to Angelica. This is worsened by the fact the two look extremely similar, with long dark hair with bangs that cover their eyes.
She gets jealous easily. If she ever gets a significant other, they’d need to always be paying attention to her.
Despite being a shut-in, she actually prefers cooked meals over instant food. She’s a decent chef.
She’s confused why her magical girl form has a flip phone instead of a later model.

A devout soul and member of her school’s beautification committee, Gracia is a pious and peaceful soul, with a focus on redemption. She seeks to help all kinds of people, and often goes out of her way to participate in things like community service. She can be old-fashioned when it comes to things like love or fashion though, making her a tad unpopular with her classmates. However, despite being so devoted to her religion, she avoids mass and just ends up praying alone in her house. She finds comfort in predictability.
Ironically enough, despite Gracia being so religious, she lacks any faith in humanity. She was raised in a highly religious family, all extremely traditional as well. Gracia was subjected to extreme amounts of verbal abuse from her father because of her faith. Her community pushed this idea that anyone who didn’t follow their faith to a t is destined for hell. She relied hard on her faith to keep herself going, always thinking that all her suffering will be worth it someday. She had good intentions, but believed that everyone was destined for damnation if they didn’t convert to her religion. When Kyubey approached her, she wished for the ability to “see the sins of mankind”. This gave her the ability to quite literally see into people’s hearts and see their crimes. She initially wanted to use it to help people improve themselves, but being surrounded by the worst hidden crimes humanity has to offer and wants she’s been through with her father has slowly eroded away her faith in humanity. She had come to the conclusion that humanity, no matter what anyone does, is doomed to burn in hell, including herself.
TRIVIA
She’s a little homophobic in the way of “extremely repressed and closeted bisexual”. She doesn’t mean any harm, she just has old fashioned beliefs.
She hates her hair’s length, but her family didn’t allow her to cut it.
Elenore is the first person to realize she has no faith in humanity, similar to her.
She has a tendency to use her magic frivolously, and rarely ever has a fully clean soul gem.
She has a fear of snakes.
In all honesty, she actually really likes gossip. She knows it’s bad, but can’t help but tune into the private drama her fellow church goers whisper.

A normal girl who tries her best every day. She’s chronically unlucky and accident prone, making her a bit of a liability during a witch fight. She’s naturally pessimistic, but still tries to be optimistic and hopeful in the face of disaster. Yangin is a diligent student and enjoys learning and despite being a passionate student, she gets average marks and spends most of her time spacing out while looking outside the window. Her hobbies mainly include browsing Wikipedia articles on obscure, hyper specific topics that never come in handy in school lessons.
Yangin, from a young age was considered a cursed, jinxed, child. No matter what, after she was born, her family and herself were stricken with odd bouts of bad luck. These range from sudden lay offs, rising rent, robberies, and even a mugging. Her family hated her, and both her parents abandoned her at age 5 at an orphanage where she carried her bad luck. Her only escape was school, as she adored learning and the teachers did their best to ward off any bullies that tried to start anything with Yangin. Her only friend was girl named “Reiko”, the student librarian. It was seemingly a little codependent, as due to Yangin’s lack of a present support system, she relied heavily on Reiko to be her singular emotional support pillar. However, one rainy day, Yangin fell asleep in class and woke up when school was long over. When she got ready to leave, she heard some strange noises from the teacher’s lounge, and she witnessed a teacher sexually abusing Reiko. She ended up getting spotted and the teacher threatened her that if she were to expose him, he would get her expelled. Due to the codependence in the relationship between the two girls, as well as the threat the teacher imposed on Yangin, she didn’t properly support Reiko. Reiko ended up committing suicide, with Yangin being the unfortunate one to find her body in a supply closet. Another student ended up exposing the teacher, and although they were expelled, the teacher was properly incarcerated. Yangin blames herself for the whole mess because she was the first witness to the teacher’s crimes and could’ve saved Reiko by exposing him earlier.
TRIVIA
Her bad luck is the reason she made her wish. There’s was a field trip that was planned for Yangin’s class that was going to be cancelled last second because of an oncoming typhoon. Yangin made her wish so she could go on the field trip with Reiko.
Another instance of her bad luck was when she attempted to get the role of class representative. She managed to win the majority vote for her class, but she caught a cold on the day she was going to be elected. Because she wasn’t there, she didn’t get the role and someone else became class representative.
Her favourite food is convenience store fried food bento boxes.
Her favourite topic to browse about is arachnids and spiders. She likes tarantulas especially.
Yangin’s dream is to adopt a pet tarantula and name it “Puppy”. She finds the irony adorable and funny.
She’s scared of heights.
When she finishes doing her laundry, Yangin likes to cuddle up with the clothes fresh out the dryer.
