sometimes will gets these moods where he wants to isolate himself and kind of shuts mike out and turns moody and apathetic because of all the issues™. they get into arguments about it sometimes because will's trying to keep mike at arm's length while mike wants to stay close, to insist, to dissect and understand and fix things for will.

when this happens to will, it's usually followed by a depressive episode where he's full of guilt and fear that mike's gonna grow tired of how "difficult" he is (on top of all the other challenges they face as a queer couple) and leave. but mike proves him wrong because mike takes care of him every time. running baths for him, helping him wash, bringing him food and snacks and treats, showing him even more affection (if that's possible, lol). kisses him all over his face, tells will how loved he is, how wanted he is.

when will thinks he's not worth the effort, mike tells him that being there for him is as natural as breathing. that he's worth everything and more. and to put things in perspective, he sometimes reminds will that he stayed and loved mike through all the shitty things mike did pre-relationship, when it would have been understandable if will walked away and never spoke to him again.
