     It wasn’t Ella’s norm to take selfies, not at all. She usually felt awkward doing it, which is why she usually wouldn’t. But today, with the nice weather, the nice setting of the park, and the fact that she actually thought she kind of looked pretty - she was willing to make an exception. Putting in an effort to pose for as far as she could, with her arm stretched out, the girl suddenly burst out in giggles as she noticed a familiar form in the background of her photo. “Come here!” She called out as she turned around to, waving her arm towards Jonah. “You can join in the photo normally.”

ₒ°♢ — SOMETIMES jonah acted before thinking, and this was one of those times. he had noticed a familiar silhouette a couple metres in front of him and he thought it’d be funny to photobomb her, with a broad smile and a peace sign. it didn’t take ella long to notice him, though, since he wasn’t all that subtle. friendly as ever, she called him over to join in. jonah glady walked closer, thankful she wasn’t embarassed by his childish behavior. “ really ? that’d be fun, i don’t think we’ve done this before, ” he replied enthusiastically. “ want me to hold your phone ? i think i can reach just a bit further -- oh, and after this i can shoot some pictures of you individually if you’d like that ! ” he offered, full of excitement.

       “ i mean, it’s no surprise my instagram feed is predominantly dogs, but… not to be dramatic, but i’ve decided i would die for this one dog. look at his face and tell me you wouldn’t too, i dare you. ” she extends her arm, holding out the screen with a goldendoodle on the screen. “ see ? he smiles ! i want one and i want to name it olaf. ”

ₒ°♢ — “ OH, i love dares ! ” jonah replied excitedly, scooching closer to anna to get a better look at her phone. the second the picture popped up, he gasped. “ oh my god... i don’t know this dog but it looks like such a good boy... he’s so fluffy... wouldn’t hurt a soul, ” jonah gushed. he wondered why he had never owned a dog himself -- he was truly missing out. “ i fully agree. honestly, i was already sold when you mentioned dogs, ” he laughed. “ what’s stopping you from getting one ? ”

      “ DON’T YOU THINK you should know better by now? ” sandy commented, her arms crossed out in front of her. though her words may come off harsh, she’s smiling brightly – only playfully teasing her friend. “ really – aren’t you a little old for that, jonah? ”

ₒ°♢ — INSPECTING the playground with a mischievous smile on his face, jonah shook his head. “ you should know better than to try and talk me out of this, ” he said with a giggle, already heading towards the jungle gym. “ come on, there aren’t any kids around so i wouldn’t be stealing their playtime... also i haven’t been here since i was eight. ” jonah hadn’t grown that big over the years, he was sure everything would be sturdy enough to support him. he looked at sandy with determined eyes. “ i’d say we have a little fun. re-live how it feels to be a kid and all. ”

“A man saying he’s afraid of women has such vastly different implications that a woman saying she’s afraid of men,” Perhaps Olive had simply been watching too many Hannah Gatsby speeches this week in their spare time, but as the thoughts dwell with them, it’s hard not to muse aloud about them, “Of course, that’s only taking the statements at face value, and they could mean different things if you dug deeper. Humans can be very devastating to each other when they want to be.”

ₒ°♢ — JONAH wasn’t expecting to have such a deep conversation so early in the morning. he was eating his breakfast sandwich, trying very hard to process everything the person sitting beside him was saying, but it wasn’t easy. he was very open to listen, but he wasn’t sure if he could actually contribute. “ woah, you’re really well-spoken, ” he reacted, “ have you ever considered writing something or doing a podcast about this topic ? ” he took another bite, as a frown appeared on his face. “ i wish i didn’t have to agree with that, but you’re right. there’s so much needless hatred in this world. ”

ₒ°♢ — A loose stone on the pavement was all it took to make jonah trip in the middle of the street. he would always be classified as the clumsiest of the jets, and there was definitely some truth in that statement. with a sigh, jonah inspected his leg, finding a big scratch beside his knee. of course, today was the day he decided to wear shorts in a long time. he looked up, seeing how one person in particular approached him out of the unbothered crowd. the girl had a worried look on her face. man up, jon, he told himself in thoughts, as he stood up. “ don’t worry, i’m fine ! didn’t break anything, ” he spoke, brushing off the dust from his hoodie.

。·:✧:· LOOKING DOWN AT the cat in his arms, stroking his back with his thumb. the small cat stayed in his arms, just perfectly content. he was always this way and ben adored it. it was the strangest thing, but he wouldn’t stop it for anything. as ben walked through the streets, he noticed that purrton guster was getting a little upset. stopping, he stroked the kitty’s belly and looked down at him. “who upset you, purrton? i will end them. no one will hurt you. daddy’s got you, my little buggaboo.” looking up at the person in front of him, ben blinked. “what? he is my son and he is upset and if you say anything mean to me or him, he will claw your face off.”

ₒ°♢ — JONAH quickly cleared his throat as the man started talking to him. jonah had probably stared at the cat for too long, but he never meant to look at it weirdly. he was just a bit amazed to see someone taking a cat outside in central london, but also he couldn’t believe how obedient it was. “ i wouldn’t dare to say anything mean, ” jon said, holding up his hands to show his innocence. “ i was just looking at your cat ‘cause... ‘cause it looks just like the one i had when i was younger. ” he had no idea why he was making up a lie on the spot, but he hoped the guy would accept it. jonah was already taking a step back, ready to run if he had to.

           WHILE MARIA HAD HOPED  from the bottom of her heart that jon would attend ,  she knew it was more than unlikely .  there wasn’t much she knew about the boy but from what she’d been able to gather from brief encounters ,  he was  unbelievably sweet  —  in fact ,  he was sweet to the point where maria herself worried about him .  of course ,  she also worried about tony ,  but they were  different people ;  she believed in tony to be able to handle himself just fine if needed ,  whereas jon …  well ,  the girl couldn’t say .  in reality ,  it only made his appearance more special !   ❝  yes , we’re hugging !  do you not like hugs ?  ❞  a smile sat on her lips ,  followed by a small laugh when the jet mentioned not having a great voice .  ❝  i’m sure that’s not true ,  &  you wouldn’t be annoying anyone ;  tonight is about  having fun ,  nothing else !  ❞  she assured him ,  hoping the words would translate as a means of telling the boy not to worry about her brother  &  his friends .  ❝  so if you feel like singing karaoke ,  i think you should .  i’d love to hear it !  … hm ?  ❞  a puzzled look appeared on maria’s eyes ,  fading when she saw him take a wrapped up ,  flat - looking present out of his backpack .  ❝  for me ,  really ?  jon ,  you didn’t have to !  ❞  painted lips curled into a bright smile ,  &  the brunette wasted no time opening the gift .  as her eyes studied the cover  ( particularly the heroine ) ,  maria couldn’t help letting out a joyful giggle before looking up at the boy again .  ❝  she’s just like me !  &  my first comic book ,  too …  thank you so much !  i’ll read it tonight ,  as soon as i get home .  ❞

ₒ°♢ — “ HUGS are the best, ” jon protested quickly, embracing her a bit more tightly to prove it. he loved giving and receiving hugs, but he usually wouldn’t initiate them if he wasn’t sure the other person would like it. bold and spontaneous moves weren’t his thing. “ okay, if the birthday girl says so, ” he then replied to please her, though internally he still wasn’t so sure. “ i think i’m going to see how i feel after a couple beers... maybe my fun side will be making an appearance later tonight, ” he said jokingly. he knew he owed maria nothing, but still jon wanted her to have an unforgettable day, with the best duets and hugs and presents. it’s the least she deserved. “ i know... just like you didn’t have to invite me, but you did. thank you, ” he responded genuinely. even though he felt weird about it, he really did appreciate the gesture of the invitation. jonah’s smile grew along with maria’s as she found out about the similarities with the main character. “ you’re never too old to start reading comics ! i’m really glad you like it. ”

“jesus, you look worse than i feel.” theresa approached the stranger with little ( no ) politeness, a frown creasing her forehead as she studied him. “you’re either really bad at parties or you’re running from an assassin. either way, i figure i can buy you a drink to make up for it.” without pausing for a response, tink leaned over the bar in order to ask the nearest bartender for two neat glasses of whiskey. “seriously, though – you good? if you’re having a panic attack or something, i can help you get outside.” @neverstcpdreaming​

ₒ°♢ — JONAH had been standing by the side of the bar, watching the performances from afar, scanning the crowd every minute or so. he was feeling paranoid, as if him and the other jets being invited was an omen for a future conflict. he had no idea why he decided to torture himself by staying. before he was able to leave, a stranger suddenly started rapidly talking to him. he raised his eyebrows as he processed her words. this girl really had no filter. he wasn’t having the best time, he wouldn’t disagree with that. however, he felt like she was exaggerating the situation just a tiny bit. “ and there’s no inbetween ? ” he replied, forcing himself to stop fidgeting with the cuff of his sweater. “ if either of these options were true, i probably wouldn’t be here. ” before he knew it, she had already ordered him a glass of whiskey. “ i’m not panicking, just a bit nervous. thank you for your strange concern, though. ” jonah figured she wouldn’t stop talking before she got her drink, so he tried to shift the conversation to her. “ so, which option applies to how you’re feeling ? ” he asked, referring to the bad at parties or running from assasin comment.

elsa hadn’t been sure about this party in the slightest – she’d never even been to a party of this scale, usually just galas and fancy dinners. but this… it was loud, and people were singing, and she had lost her will to fight through the crowd to dance. plus, chances of her singing were slim to none, so she decided to stick near the bar, drinking the only thing she could think to ask for – champange. and it wasn’t her favorite thing in the world, but it was all she could remember having. after a long moment, she leaned over to the perosn next to her. “ excuse me – what’re you drinking ?? it looks really good… ”

ₒ°♢ — KEIRA was waiting by the bar as she checked the time on her phone. ryan was arriving in london tonight and coming straight to this party, which is why she needed to be here, even though she wasn’t particularly close with any of the two birthday girls. she had ordered one alcoholic drink, the only one she’d allow herself to get ( her tolerance wasn’t great and she wanted to remember tonight ). suddenly, keira looked up when the person next to her started talking. “ oh, this ? ” keira asked, immediately feeling shy as ever. she was the worst at talking to girls she didn’t know. this is why she usually avoided going out. “ it’s nothing much, just a mojito -- i like to stay in my comfort zone, ” she spoke, looking down at her lap, knowing her choice of drink wasn’t adventurous by any means. keira had no idea why she felt the need to talk herself down already, though.

‘Next up, Vienna by Billy Joel, sung by–’ “Thank you, thank you, I’ll take it from here.” Ryan had the microphone before the announcer could finish reading the script from his little paper, looking to the crowd of mostly strangers. There were a few familiar faces (but mostly new ones.) “This one goes out to Sharpay Evans, my other half.” And without further ado the background track started playing and Ryan started singing, his voice carrying out to the crowd with careful precision. The song itself was accented with a dance (courtesy of himself) and a bright smile, as any good theatre kid knew it had to. And when he finished he hesitated– not out of a lack of confidence, but merely for the applause to hit his ears before he passed the microphone to someone else as he slid from the stage. “I know what you’re thinking. What an entrance, right?”

ₒ°♢ — “ THE kind of entrance only ryan evans knows how to make, ” keira agreed with a broad smile after she found her best friend by the karaoke stage. she had been watching him from afar for the past couple of minutes, in awe of the way he managed to entertain the crowd in seconds. she had been eager to finally reunite with him in person. all was good, now that he was here. “ i’ve truly been counting the days, i’m so happy you’re here, ” she continued, throwing her arms over his shoulders. as she hugged him, a sigh escaped her lips, and she somehow felt relieved, even though the few months she’d lived in london had flown by without anything major happening. “ you really picked the best moment to arrive -- you’re going to be the talk of the city, ” keira complimented him once again after pulling back from the hug.

ₒ°♢ — CLOSING the tap after washing his hands, jonah was about to leave the bathroom to go back to the party. a slow song had just been put on and suddenly it made him aware of sniffing sounds coming from the bathroom stall on the left, suggesting he wasn’t the only one there. a feeling of worry came over him as he walked closer to check he wasn’t imagining things after the couple beers he had. but nope, there was definitely someone in there, sounding upset from what he could tell. guys usually weren’t allowed to be emotional, at least that’s what lots of people told jon growing up. luckily, he himself had adapted a different mindset. emotions weren’t supposed to be a weakness. with this in mind, jonah decided to hear if they needed some help, someone to talk to, it was the least he could do. he cleared his throat, announcing his presence to the stranger. “ uhm, excuse me -- are you alright in there ? ”

ₒ°♢ — NEVER in a million years jonah would’ve guessed he’d be invited to a party hosted by a shark girl. at first he wasn’t sure about going, but when he heard tony was planning to make an appearance, jon figured it wouldn’t hurt to go. in maria’s defense, she had nothing to do with the rivalry between her brother’s crew and jonah’s crew. besides, she had always seemed like a kind-hearted person, someone jon would vibe well with if he only got to know her better. after arriving at the party, he looked for the small brunette, waiting for his turn to greet her and wish her a happy birthday. “ hi -- oh, we’re hugging, okay ! ” he spoke with a chuckle, taken by surprise. jon then flinched a little when maria mentioned her brother. “ i don’t know, my voice isn’t too great, i wouldn’t want to annoy anyone, ” he replied vaguely. with other sharks lurking around, he’d rather stay in the background and watch people from afar. “ also, before i forget, i brought you a little something, ” he then said, eager to change the topic. opening his backpack, he pulled out a flat present. he had done an excellent wrapping job, if he could say so himself. “ i don’t know if you’ll like it, but it just reminded me of you. happy birthday ! ” after opening it, maria would see a miss america comic book published a couple years ago, with a latina superhero as the protagonist.

           “ BABY ! “, WENDY CALLED out as she recognised baby jon’s familiar frame walking towards ( what she assumed at least ) the small coffee place near webber’s properties. wendy had always taken a liking to the boy – he just felt so cosy and familiar. they were gentle souls, the both of them, perhaps that is why he was the jets boy she felt closest to ( aside from reese, of course, but their history goes way back ). wendy had picked up her pace in order to catch up with him, a wide and enthusiastic smile tugging at her lips. she was always happy to see him – that’s something that would probably never change. while they hadn’t worked out as lovers, he sure was one of her closest friends. “ baby – “, she said again, now that she was walking right behind him. the nickname was one she’d adopted from the other jets, and it had stuck with her ever since they dated. “ i’m so glad to see you ! “, the brunette added, hand placed on his arm to stop him from walking further. { @neverstcpdreaming​ }

ₒ°♢ — IT had been such a hot day out, and jonah was in dire need for a fresh, cold, drink. he was heading towards the local café as someone called for him. the nickname was reserved for only a handful of people. wendy darling was one of them. as he realized it was her, jon turned around, a bright smile forming on his face. “ wendyyyy ! shining bright as ever, ” he replied with full enthusiasm. wendy had this kind of glow around her, even more so than the last time he’d seen her. jon was eager to find out what she had been up to. “ listen, i was heading over to get a home made lemonade, are you free to come along, my treat ? ”
