Y'all ain't gonna believe this one, but I swear it's true!

The Great Rabbit Uprising, or the time Napoleon Bonaparte was attacked by rabbits, was a humiliating event that occurred in 1807:

The event

Napoleon held a rabbit hunt to celebrate the signing of the Treaties of Tilsit, which ended the war between the French Empire and Imperial Russia. Napoleon's chief of staff, Alexandre Berthier, oversaw the hunt and collected hundreds or thousands of rabbits from local farmers.

The attack

When the cages were opened, the rabbits ran towards Napoleon and his men, believing it was feeding time. The rabbits flanked Napoleon and his guests, climbing up their legs and clinging onto their coats. Napoleon's men tried to beat them off with sticks, but the swarm was impossible to shake off.

The outcome

Napoleon managed to retreat and outrun the rabbits before they could take him down.
