And another thing that’s never talked about is the fact that service and physical labor workers work the ENTIRE time they’re there. Office workers might get 4 hours of work done in an 8 hour work day. At my job, I’m on my feet, moving and working the ENTIRE eight hours. If there’s no customers, I’m prepping or organizing or cleaning. My coworkers and I are expected to keep finding work to do. There’s literally no down time.

And it is this bullshit that makes people think it’s fine to dump their crap all over a store because “job security!” When all that it means is some poor asshole doesn’t get around to the shit their boss has told them to do, because they were too busy cleaning up after you.

What really gets me about Griffin McElroy’s storytelling prowess is the fact that he took the whole “Davenport only says his name, like a Pokemon” goof and then turned it into one of the most emotionally gut-wrenching events in the whole story
