A large heavy machine is wheeled into the arcade on a dolly and unloaded by a few men. Mr. Litwak signs for the bundle and thanks the men for the delivery. The man looks at his new purchase and pulls the tarp over it off before cleaning any stray dirt and dust from the frame before plugging the machine in. Looks like there's a new game in the arcade. (Heeeeeey all)

(Ok well, I’ve tried a million times to get this blog going again and it’s probably been easy to tell that it’s not working but I’ve figured out why! I’ve kinda developed them into newer more original things and I’ve decided that the best thing to do with them is do a kind of soft reset and put them in a brand new indie world even if a lot of it is still the same in environment and some concepts ex: same kind of racing mystery game and still living video game people. They’re still going to be the same game but instead of the WiR living thing they’re game characters with AI programming that was just good enough for true sentience. I’m setting things in a slightly different light but for the most part everyone will be acting the same but I’m going to be implementing my own rules for the world they live in and play around with some newer different ideas. Soft resetting them means I’m keeping some history and relationships intact, most of which are mentioned on the relationships page. I’ve been out of the game so long that I doubt anyone who did have a relationship with them is still active but if you happen to be and don’t see yourself on there and wanna be send an ooc message on there and I’ll see what I can do/remember about it.

Follow if you want I’m going to be trying to make a new approach to this blog so I have some more activity on it!)

Discovery

It wasn’t often that Litwak was absent from the arcade. Despite seemingly being well into his 50s, he almost never seemed to be sick. And he didn’t travel much either, at least as far as Cara knew. But whatever the reason, Litwak was absent today and had insisted that Cara come in and keep the arcade open today.

Cara had been rather excited, she had never kept the place open on her own until today and it meant a lot to her that Litwak was willing to trust her with that. But by the end of the day, she was exhausted, wondering how Litwak put up with the combination of duties of running his arcade, even when he had Cara to help.

She checked her phone as the sun had almost set, waiting for her shift to finally be over. The clock read 9:03, which was just after closing time. She immediately got up and began to let the few patrons in the arcade at the time of this, and within ten minutes, she had gotten all of them out the door. Cara began working on various other things that needed to be done after closing, such as removing coins that were stuck in the machines and taking note of the more worn machines so Litwak could look at them tomorrow. She had also finished all that within thirty minutes, and was about to lock the place up for the night when she heard a strange sound that grabbed her attention.

Cara could almost swear she had heard something that sounded like…a faint crash, perhaps? She grabbed a flashlight from Litwak’s office and began to look around the place for the source of the sound. Had she accidentally locked a patron in here? It didn’t seem like whatever had caused the sound was present any more, apparently. She was cautiously about to leave, waiting to see if the sound happened again, when she noticed something very out of place on one of the game screens. Cara went over to investigate the game.

There wasn’t another crash but something else was definitely heard, it was more along the lines of some metal scrapping and some high pitched voices. Looks like the Hover game was active still, the last patrons of the game had put in a few quarters and left the game idling before being shooed out by the young woman in charge today and after that 30 minutes of idling the game auto selected the characters and a track to go on.

Kuya and Akina weren’t aware of the fact that closing time had happened and hadn’t seen that the players never came back from the bathroom by the time the game started up.

At least Kuya wasn’t aware, Akina was the last one on screen for the 10 of the last 20 minutes of clean up and shut down. She considered letting him know what was going on but she thought it would be a lot more fun watching him squirm on the automatic propulsion in a straight line into a wall waiting for his player to steer him around while she easily went around the track on her own.

When the race started she took off at max speed and was gone when Kuya left the game at a moderate but ultimately losing speed, he frowned and watched his friend disappear out of sight easily before looking behind himself at the fair sized holoscreen that would appear behind them for the players to look through, while being filtered out by the graphics so no one on the outside of the game could see.

Naturally he saw that the arcade was dark and closed up for the night, he was about to turn back and yell at Akina for being the jackass she was for this but he hit a speed boost arrow on the road while he wasn’t looking and boosted himself right off track and into one of the obstacle walls with the nice loud crash that Cara heard.

Kyoko hopped off the bench just off the opening of the track and ran up to him, he wasn’t even in the out of stadium part yet so she was there in just a second. She pulled the mangled board off him with some loud metal scrapes and started frantically asking if he was ok or needed any heath packs. In just a minute Akina was already on her second lap and passing them again, she slowed to a stop and started laughing.

Aiko nodded and patted his head nicely, “It’s ok, everything’s new here we’re still trying to figure things out too and you didn’t break anything so there’s no harm.” He looked back up at Akina to see what she wanted to do next with him.

It was obvious she was getting the hint that she sucked with kids, especially freaked out trespassing kids. She was still in charge though as a superior ranked character but she figured that a better reply would be the opposite of what she intended to do, kick him out. Maybe a softer approach would be better.

“If the kid wants to hang around he’s your responsibility and keep him off the track, no closer than the stands otherwise show him out.”

Aiko looked honestly surprised by her reaction, he was expecting her to have the kid kicked out, he looked down at him and smiled softly, “Would you like to stay for a race? There’s a few left before everyone leaves.”

He felt a little bit more comfortable now, especially with how Aiko was speaking to him. He nodded to Akio. “Y-Yes, if that’s alright I would like to.” he said, his nervousness still lingering in his voice.

Akina sighed very softly and nodded, she was a little exasperated knowing that the kid was staying here but she remembered that softer approach. He was already calming down from Aiko so obviously he was doing it right.

“Alright, take him up I’m getting back to the track.”

She flicked her hair back and put her helmet on. She gave the man a light pat on the back on her way out, if he could handle this or not didn’t matter to her he didn’t need her help so she was out.

Aiko offered his hand to Cornelius and smiled as warmly as he could, he felt bad about scaring the kid and maybe with Akina’s crassness out of the room he could feel more at ease now.

“Don’t worry it’ll be fine, we’ll just go back the way you came and I’ll take you up to the bleachers. We can even watch together. I can sit the next race out.”

Cornelius kept hanging from Akina’s hand as she talked with Akio. It looked like neither of them meant him any harm, but he was still a little nervous about them. He assumed that Akio could understand that he was harmless, but it looked to him like Akina was still not convinced. As the two were still discussing it over with each other, he considered just trying to leave once they let him go, he had caused way more trouble than he had wanted to here.

The moment he was set down, he backed away a few steps from the two. He was about to say something when Akina suddenly faced him and threateningly warned him about trespassing. He simply nodded quietly instead, waiting for whatever they planned to do next.

Akio came over to Cornelius after calming Akina down, and essentially told him the same thing again in a much calmer tone. Cornelius felt more comfortable responding to Akio, saying “I was trying to look for something like that, but I think I got a little lost. I wasn’t trying to end up back here, I’m very sorry.” Cornelius still felt a little distressed, and it showed, but he could at least tell that these racers weren’t trying to scare him.
