i found this podcast called Hidden Rabbits and the two hosts actually work in the film industry and this ep they talk about Shondaland in specific and this clip really just solidified me and my besties theory
so i have a PREDICTION that once pt 1 drops they are going to push out a lot more lukola/polin content before pt 2 cause sorry not sorry Luke T and Yerin just dont have anywhere near the same chemistry as lukola + benophies are so mean most people cant stand them and now hate the ship and like ive said before i truly think lukola is the only thing that saved s3. if you look at the scripts without their acting ITS ABYSMAL. and since Luke T and Yerin dont have that + a lot of people were pissed off at s3 especially pt 2 that they aren't going to watch it i think they will use lukola as an interest point and release all the bloopers and stuff to try and get back viewership.
i was going through a bunch of old lukola videos and pics on my phone and this one is SO FUCKING FUNNY now with that carriage 2.0 leak.
im truly curious what tf they are going to say this time when people ask them about it CAUSE HELLO. THERE IS NOTHING PRETTY ABOUT THAT SCENE except being pretty hot lmao
expanding on this theory since some people think i was saying Shonda is controlling lukola/ is orchestrating them when i literally never said that in the og post and dont believe that at all.
having no dating contracts is standard procedure and me or my bestie NEVER thought it was done out of malice or to control Luke and Nic. i will expand on this later to.
she literally hates romance. why tf would she get involved with this mess.
she is a busy woman and i really don't think she has any involvement with lukola (or the adjacents) outside of what their characters do and their ability to act on screen.
okay now lets get more into it.
from my understanding of her other shows none of the MAIN cast ever dated each other while the show was airing. i think this potential clause in their contract is the CAUSE of the adjacents and why lukola would need to hide. again i dont think lukola thought they were ever going to fall in love or that this potential clause was done as a control/mean thing to torture them.
so many of her shows explore how fucking messy coworkers dating is (see the article i linked before) so she clearly understands this and probably doesnt want it to happen irl and only in fantasy. fantasy you can control irl its very hard (see this whole shitshow with the adjacents and how despite lukola trying to make it seem like they are with other people, people keep shipping lukola!)
also i got a 2nd job as a retail worker and even I HAVE a clause in my contract where im not allowed to date my coworkers and thats on a small scale where people leave all the time. these clauses are STANDARD practice NOT done out of malice but for protection for the company and workers. it makes sense to have a clause to prevent lukola from dating cause if someone breaks up (ESPECIALLY A MAIN COUPLE) hell even just couple fights are going to be fucking awkward and affect the performance of the characters, promo, interviews, writing/what scenes you can do etc. especially for actors who tend to be dramatic and feel things a lot more. thats a big point of intimacy coordinators is to help stop things getting awkward between coworkers.
hell even now we can see lukola are being separated in the promo so their insane chemistry doesnt overshadow s4 and so we dont get a repeat of what happened at the 2nd premiere where a bunch of people said they were never going to watch bton or netflix again cause of the papgate bullshit.
and remember the show only became a thing BECAUSE of Penelope/Lady Whistledown and Nicola is cast first. shes going to want to keep Nic/Pen on as much as possible since she is the main character and doesnt want anything (like a potential failed relationship, sidenote i dont think lukola will ever fail obviously but you get the point) to get in the way of that if she can help it.
also denying lukola as a couple lets the build up of that sexual and romantic energy bleed into their performance and makes it more impactful as an UNINTENDED side effect since its very clear they let out their feelings towards each other through polin and on the wt. we can already tell by that leaked carriage scene that is SOMEHOW CRAZIER THAN THE FIRST!!! especially knowing Luke in the past is a loverboy and likes to show his love PUBICLY. polin and wt is the only place he really gets to show his love for Nicola. and think about it. the mystery of whats going on is why so many people are here. like with tomdaya they still have shippers ofc but the hype for them has gone down a lot because its not really a mystery anymore.
ALSO! if lukola were allowed to date pubicly why haven't they already? there was a golden window between Luke and Jake breaking up and before his hbs especially since it would BE SUCH GOOD PROMO FOR S3. they couldve come public then but they didnt. why would they push so hard to be believed and risk their images tanking (for so long to) and completely acting out of character doing all this if they weren't hiding something especially since they signed to keep being on the show. IMO they want to eat their cake (relationship) and have their job too so the consequence of that is this mess.
what gets me the most about this shitshow is that lukola EASILY couldve choosen better pr partners (hell Eamon was literally right there, hes around the same age as Nic and actually has feelings for her imo) its almost like they dont actually want to commit to these people cause it feels like they are cheating on each other!! also look at the timing and people. Jake lowkey came out of nowhere only AFTER people were shipping lukola despite A and her antics. and Jake is also around the same age as A so it helps even the criticism between Luke and Nic.
its like they only want to put the bare amount of effort in to make it believable enough that a lot of people dont look further which makes sense if me and my besties theory is right and they can't date due to contract and dont want to risk their job. they just need to do enough to put most people off and what they can stomach.
no wonder benophies are so fucking awful when this is what their Leads say??? are you fucking kidding me?? Nic and Luke have been HARASSED AND HAVE WHOLE ASS HATE BLOGS about them from these benophies yet still are kind to their fans and want the best for Luke T and Yerin and this is what fucking happens? unbelievable.
Nic and Claudia are an example of how A PROFESSIONAL deals with shit like this. the fact it was Luke T too? disgusting.
heres your reminder that Lukes first public gf WAS HIS COSTAR from the Lodge and this is him with her in interviews vs Nic. the difference is astounding.
okay me and my bestie were talking and what if part of the reason for this whole shit show is because there is a clause for the MAIN cast where you can't date your coworkers (ie thats why Sam and Bessie could be together cause they are not main cast vs lukola who are). correct me if im wrong but to my understanding none of the MAIN greys cast were in relationships with each other (i mean like they weren't already a couple before they got cast) while it was airing so what if thats like a shondaland policy?
im sure no one thought lukola were gonna fall in love (including themselves) and are now stuck and ofc the pr people for the show are not going to stop them from being insane but not dating cause its AMAZING promo for the show. look how many non fans got into bridgerton JUST based on lukola despite s3 being shit.
also this could explain the adjacents. they can date in secret and then have the adjacents as cover/plausible deniablity so they dont pubicly break contract and risk their job. also could explain why this is going on for what feels like a million years.
can someone please let me know if we ever find out where Luke is instead of the premiere and/or if A is doing some shit while its happening today or tomorrow. thank you!
even tho i do critque Luke i also do really feel for him and definitely feel like this whole shit show has been a low point for him and i think we all have had those times where we have not acted the best or made stupid decisions in the moment to deal with pain or things in our life and unlike Luke ours (hopefully at least) are not on the internet for millions of people to see.
we can critique and still have empathy for them. my critique comes from a place of love of wanting him to be in a healthier situation. the reason why i ship lukola in the first place is because imo both of them especially Luke was happiest with Nic and they made each other better. they could be their truest and happiest selves around each other.
do yall ever think abt the fact if fans didnt somehow manage to clock Luke with A in that nye video like over a year ago this whole shitshow wouldn't even have happened.

heres your reminder that a lot of stalking and pap photos are not from our side and in fact from the jakolas and antlukes (why tf would we want to see that?? the only reason why we look out for it us cause people want our opinions on it. none of us want to see it. we want it to go away in fact!) we tend to just find the public photos that were posted before and being presented like they are brand new.
there is a lot of problems in our fandom but the other shippers (cause yes just because they are with other people that is still irl shipping) also have a bunch of problems too. including harassment, bullying, and thinking that Nic is going to marry Jake and have his babies same with A and Luke. and i guarantee once more promo for s4 comes out and we get more lukola moments and shit they are going to be mad as hell like we have been and will also cause them backlash.
