Pacific Rim (2013) dir Guillermo del Toro When I was a kid, whenever I’d feel small or lonely… I’d look up at the stars. Wondered if there was life up there. Turns out I was looking in the wrong direction. When alien life entered our world it was from deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. A fissure between two tectonic plates. A portal between dimensions. The Breach.

We immediately escalate everything to a ten. It’s ridiculous. I mean, somebody comes in with some preposterous plan or idea, and then all of a sudden, everybody’s on the gas. Nobody’s on the breaks. Nobody’s thinking.
Look, I can’t have any Pacific Rim sequels again. I’m done. I was still connected to Pacific Rim when Uprising was released. I can’t go through that again man, I’m sorry.
Haven’t you heard? Pacific Rim is getting an animated series. So where would you rather it die? Here, or in an anime?
Pacific Rim (2013) dir Guillermo del Toro “A life-sized version of the robot cockpit was built on a sound stage at Pinewood Studios in Toronto, Canada. It weighed about twenty tons and stood nearly four stories high. It was built on a gigantic hydraulic gimbal, which would move, shake, vibrate, drop and rock the entire set as if it were actually being piloted. A smaller version was also built with a smaller gimbal, allowing for different movements. The VFX team used some of the Conn-pod footage for reference while animating the robots. The set was also redressed to depict the interior of each robot differently.”
Nothing against it. I just don’t get it.
Newt wasn’t a Kaiju groupie, not really, but sometimes he wondered- in the deepest parts of himself that science had not yet silenced- if this was just the flood, again. Humanity had sinned, and perhaps the Kaiju were the hand of God, striking New Sodom and Gomorrah.
