I had a Fin-Tastic time at the @californiamercon bubble ball the music, the fun and sea shanties were all great and silly. Plus being able to be a panelist at the @societyoffatmermaids panel was amazing, I enjoyed hearing and sharing stories with everyone and being inspired as well from our other panelists who understand what its like to be a curvy mermaid in the merfolk community. Mom, I love you more than words can say, you almost died bringing me into this world, you've protected me and cared about me, no matter this bad a day I had, you did what you could for me. You did everything in your power to help me even if it was giving me what little you had. You even helped with my wedding, and I made sure you were a part of every moment, even if we did butt heads at the 300 guest list, when I only wanted 50 people. As I grew up I started realizing how important it is to have your mom in your life. And even though you have gotten older and have forgotten things, we've gotten closer. I'm grateful for you and everything you've done to help me be who I am today. I know your life was not the best, but I try to do what I can to make you smile and laugh, and make sure you have a roof over your head any anything else you need. Happy #internationalsealday from me and Bumstead the Harbor Seal. Bumstead is 20 years old. Here's some quick tips about seals. Seals have small flippers, wriggle on their bellies on land, and lack visible ear flaps (unlike sea lions). Seals can sleep underwater and usually only come on land to escape predators like whales and sharks, as well as to mate, give birth, feed and moult. And some seals can dive up to 900m in depth and some can hold their breath underwater for up to 2 hours!
