I was super excited to read this book, but it wasn't really what I was hoping for. It seems written to be an artifact, as though the intended audience should pick it up five or ten years from now. I wanted behind the scenes insights into the bubble itself - player stories - or at least more on the inner workings of the NBA during this time.
Instead, the book is a rather straightforward if well-written account of the Bubble season and playoffs. It includes well-articulated accounts of the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the social justice protests in the United States - specifically as they relate to the NBA and impacted the players and games.
It's a fine book, but seems like anyone hoping for behind the scenes content will have to wait for the first player exposé to be published. Anyone who followed the Bubble will likely not find much of added value here.
