their most weasley traits are their freckles that are smattered all over their cheeks
and molly and lucy naturally feel isolated from the rest of their cousins because they’re so physically isolated from their cousins on top of the fact that some of the uncles and aunts have negative (at worst) or indifferent (at best) feelings toward percy still
bill is arguably the kindest toward his brother (he’s really proud that someone who was surrounded and influenced by so much negativity and prejudice has become so tolerant, and open minded— he married a muggle!) so naturally their families are really close and it sets a competitive edge to victoire and molly who try to be the best family people they can be as the oldest weasleys
and molly sort of gets miffed when she gets put into ravenclaw and doesn’t get sorted into gryffindor because can’t she have something like her family? obviously victoire got into gryffindor but molly can roughhouse and joke and act like such a weasley sometimes and molly is just like her namesake and protects her family fiercely as they come into hogwarts
and lucy sort of hates all of it, she’s blatantly aware of her differences and sets herself apart from her family, just naturally isolates herself instead of embracing all the familial crap the way molly does. why can’t she just be so atune to stuff the way molly does? she’s close with fleur and she feels like a total knob when she looks in the mirror and can speak french and cantonese with the smallest hit of a scottish lilt
and molly and lucy sort of get really aware of their difference as they get older when they want to curl their hair like rose’s and it falls flat every time or the fact that they feel like they’re being played into every stereotype when they’re both sorted into ravenclaw, when their cousins and classmates ask for help with assignments (because they’re smart, not because they’re chinese, but they don’t always see it that way), when lucy realises she’s shit on a broom and you know they say that asians are bad flyers. and being bad at arithmancy? didn’t the chinese, like, invent that?
and to them, it’s not the same as fred and roxanne, everyone loves uncle george and aunt angelina. they don’t need fight familial conflict as well as societal.
but they naturally click with fred and roxanne, they get the chaos and the confusion— sure the delacours don’t look like weasleys, but at least they’re seen as people 100% of the time. fred is quiet and intelligent and is good with lucy when she’s the same, and lends a compassionate ear when she thinks that she doesn’t want to be the mousy, nerdy asian. roxanne is just as rambunctious as molly, and doubly as popular and molly loves it, and likes to laugh with her and tells all those pure blooded snobs to shove their brooms up their arses when they tell roxie that she’s being loud or aggressive.
