ghost Moritz only appearing at night so Melchior thinks that he's just having unfortunate dreams about his dead best friend but Moritz just misses Melchior from his place in the grave
Moritz is like hugging Melchior while Melchior is in bed because the afterlife is cold and it's the only semblance of warmth he can get, and he misses Melchior because the afterlife is also very lonely
Melchior feels shame because he thinks that he's imagining it but he's not. Moritz is still there
i can’t even express how much i love spring awakening deaf west there is just so much more it adds to the story

SPRING AWAKENING
whats it about anyways?
spring awakening is a musical adaptation of the book “the awakening of spring” by… some author i cannot be bothered to look up.
now. i could go through scene by scene (i have the whole script on my phone) but i will not just a basic overview for now (maybe more later…?)
note. spoilers after basic overview.
BASIC OVERVIEW

Melchior is kinda the main guy, but there is… a LOT of discussion around him about morals and such.
Wendla is a love interest of sorts…?
Moritz is MY BABY I LOVE HIMMM he’s uh… a bit mentally unwell.
hanschen and ernst are GAY canonically we love canon gays
i could go on but uh i dont really wanna.
the antagonist in this show is society and the adults. the only reason ANY plot comes along is cause their parents didnt bother to teach them about sex and cause abuse was (and still is) normalized!! ask me to elaborate and i will.
they are schoolchildren. not even to high school if my memory serves me right. this show was very progessive for its time, covering homosexuality (listen it was a huge thing in like the 1800’s) sex education, suicide, abuse, religious trauma, and MORE!
there is A LOT of symbolism. like a ton. a lot of religious imagery, but other things too. most of the weird metaphors are just about sex usually? but i am very good with metaphors if anyone has any questions :>

theyre all 14-15 in the play and are graduating into a secondary school (which i assume is the 1800's equivalent of highschool based on their ages and how important the plot revolves around it) which is why moritz has his whole thing of being so anxious about failing or passing

I just got out of seeing the HADESTOWN PROSHOT AND IT WAS SO GOOD kinda scared that I’ll get obsessed with it again I’ve been so focused on spring awakening for so long I lowk forgot about how good hadestown was💔 guess I gotta multitask now
I don't think I've ever mentioned this but I once was looking through spring awakening videos on youtube and found a trailer for a production where the actor for Melchior had longer hair and Moritz had bright blue hair and lip piercings and it made my day
