“tilt your head to the left, please,” the photographer instructed. he did what the male had instructed him to do and patiently waited there, rooted onto the spot. the model stared right into the camera, ignoring the stares from the rest of the staff members, particularly a one rival model.
jongin bit his lip as he watched the pale doll faced simply stood there, exuding an alluring aura without even trying. he used to be the only one who had such charisma but suddenly this doe eyed blonde popped into the picture and his long attained title of the world's number one supermodel was snatched away.
as if the other could feel the intensity of his stares, the shorter male raised his head to face the tanned male, causing jongin's breath to hitch in his throat. the two continued to stare at each other, unwilling to look away.
after a couple of clicks which confirmed that the necessary shots had been taken, the photographer finally switched the lighting equipment off.
"i will win," lu han had murmured into his ear as they left the studio together.
"over my dead body," jongin had hissed back, grabbing onto the fellow model's arm, earning quite a lot of curious gazes from the passerbys. two very good looking men standing close to each other while talking in such an intimate manner was definitely an unusual but pleasing to the eye sight.
"your time is over. it is my time to reign," the blonde smirked, prying the taller's hands off of him before heading into the dressing room. jongin could only fume silently, stabbing the other model in his mind a thousand times.

“good work, jongin-sshi,” the male said, finally cracking a smile. the aforementioned model was surprised at the appearance of a smile, wondering whether hell had actually frozen over or not. he smiled back sardonically after having gotten over the shock, his eyes narrowing slightly as his mind raced through the possible scenarios of what the doll faced male had planned for them.
“you too, lu han-sshi,” he greeted back.
jongin walked towards the dressing room in order to change into his clothes. he sighed for the umpteenth time that day. it was midnight already and he had yet to sleep for two days in a row. he rubbed off the makeup on his face with a make up remover and flinched at the reflection once he had finished taking off his makeup. dark, heavy eyebags were visible underneath his tired looking eyes mirroring a certain stylist's panda eyes. crinkling his nose as he took off his circle lenses, he blinked twice before shaking his head. being a model was pretty hard.
“jongin-sshi? would you like a ride home?” luhan asked, popping his head into the doorway. jongin refused politely, his suspicions growing at the sudden kindness the other showed today. the rest of the staff was busy packing away for the night and bowing goodbyes and good work to each other.
“are you sure? it’s midnight and i insist on bringing you back home. we’re neighbours anyway, so you’re not causing me any trouble at all,” lu han continued to press on the matter tilting his head as he leaned against the doorway. jongin sighed tiredly and smiled his usual fake smiles, replying that he’ll take the offer. it wouldn't hurt anyway, a free ride was better than having to walk in the dark.
“that’s more like it,” the model said, approaching the male. “can’t have the company's top model passing out in the middle of the streets due to lack of sleep, can we?” the blonde joked as he passed the model before grabbing the clothes that were hanged neatly on the rack nearby. he handed the garments towards the tall lanky male, motioning him to change.
something was definitely up. and jongin was going to find out what it was.
he dreamt of silence in a world of black and white. no colours existed, no sounds, only him and the mute world. the nightmares haunted him, he felt lifeless. to be deprived of colour, of music and sound was agonising.
"i just don't want to live in a monochrome world with no sound," jongdae had splutter out once they had calmed down, as baekhyun had ended up joining the sobfest in the midst of comforting jongdae.
baekhyun swore to himself on that day that he was going to splash jongdae's world with colourful streaks of the rainbow. he made sure to sing as much as he could, for he knew how his voice comforted the silent boy.
