I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?

Summary: Prompt #3846 ~ Y/n's been avoiding the boys for a bit because she believes its inevitable, that at some point they'll have to go their own ways or worse. David however wants answers about her avoidance..
Authors Note: Could be a Poly!Lost Boys, or just David. prompt from @promptsforthestrugglingauthor . I didn't originally have this story posting today but . . . I got tickets to a Convention (starting today and going till sunday) where I'm getting a photo op with (character names:) : David, Marko, Dwayne, Michael, and Laddie. So I thought posting my first Lost Boys story was fitting for today. I'm SO excited!!!!
“Leave me alone.” Y/n grumbled annoyed that David kept following her. What could she have to do to get him to stop?! She had been avoiding him and the rest of the lost boys for a while for reasons she felt were valid and she didn’t feel like talking about them at the moment and she was sure that's what the vampire next to her would want to speak on.
“Not a chance.” David kept walking next to her, not letting her out of his sight. He wanted answers and he was going to get them. She couldn’t just evade them and expect them not to want answers. For him to not want answers.
“Just leave me the fuck alone!” She exclaimed, beyond frustrated. Y/n turned on her feet and headed to the exit of the boardwalk hoping he’d leave her alone before she reached it. She knew going to the boardwalk would give high chances of running into the boys, but her job was on the boardwalk she had no choice.
David just smirked at her obvious frustration and continued to follow her. “Sorry Sweetheart. Not your decision to make.”
“Take your blood sucking ass elsewhere.” Y/n insulted under her breath knowing he'd hear her clearly. Maybe if she offended him he’d go away.
David smiled genuinely amused by that comment. “You can’t offend me Y/n.”
“The hell I can’t.” Now angry and pissed off Y/n stopped walking and turned to face him. David stopped walking and watched her turn to face him with fury in her eyes. “Go away David. I don’t want you around. Never have.” Y/n knew that would hurt him at least a little bit inside, even if he didn’t show it.
“Now you're lying? You know you can’t lie to me.” Her words did hurt him a little, she knew it was a weak spot for him not being needed. But he knew she didn’t mean it and he could hear her pulse, which 100% confirmed her lies.
Y/n could feel guilt curling up in the pit of her stomach at her words. But she could feel it getting worse at what she was about to say next. Y/n didn’t mean any of them but she wanted him to have her alone. “You're a monster David. All of you are. Why would I ever want to be around you? You're a killer.”
David stepped closer to her looking down at her with a soft patient look and he reached out to touch her cheek. “Still don’t believe you.”
Y/n was ready to rip her hair out, as she looked in his eyes and only saw attentive care in them. No malice at her words. “Don’t you understand that I’m trying to get you to leave me?” She snapped as he caressed her cheek softly. Y/n had half a mind to slap his hand away but she didn’t really want to, she missed them to much. Him to much. “You’re too fucking forgiving, and I don’t do a single nice thing for you. Why the fuck do you pout up with it?”
It was obvious to David she didn’t know just how much she did do for him and the boys, and she is nice to them and not many are. She accepted them as they were. Killers. Monsters. Vampires.
The soft look he always wore fell, but not to one of anger or of shock. Instead, his expression was nothing but grave and solemn. “You lash out because you don’t feel like you deserve love. You want me to give that right back to you, but I’m not going to do that. You can be kind, you can be loved, and you can feel good, but you’re going to have to be willing to do that. Now, do you want to keep yelling at me, or do we want to try a different approach?”
“Why do you care?” All the anger drained from her body at his statement and now she was just tired and confused. Why did he care so much? Why wouldn’t he just take the hint. It’d make it easier.
“I’ll never not care about you. Now why are you trying to push me away?” David didn’t do heart to hearts often he had a reputation to uphold. But he’d do anything to keep Y/n and know why she had been pushing him away as of late.
“Better if I do it before it gets done to me.” Y/n shrugged before she admitted the truth to him. Everyone tended to leave her at some point, very few stayed in her life and given the unique situation when it comes to the boys she’d rather get it done and over with.
“You think we’re gonna push you away?” He questioned wanting to understand more. It panicked him not that he showed it. Had they not shown her how much she means to them? That they already consider her one of them?
Y/n looked down between them before looking back up, did he really not see the ‘Why?’ standing silently between them. “You have to at some point. Or kill me.”
David furrowed his brows in disbelief, they’d never hurt her. He thought they had made that clear in the time they have known her. “Where did you get that idea?”
Y/n let out a deep defeated breath. “Oh come on David. How could I not?”
Now his chest felt tight, and considering he doesn’t need to breathe or have a beating heart that meant something deep to him. He brushed his thumb over her cheek with his right hand and wrapped his left around her waist pulling her against his chest. “You're different to us. Thought you knew that.”
“You never know. What if it changes?” She shrugged in his hold but not pulling out of his embrace.
It was clear to him they hadn’t done as good of a job at showing her they care as they thought and that her ignoring them was their fault. “Maybe I should’ve told you before, but we’ve discussed it and we want you to join us. Become one of us.”
Y/n pulled back slightly looking at him in the eyes questioningly. That would mean having her around forever. “Really?”
“We could never be tired of you, and if we thought that was an option we wouldn’t have agreed unanimously for wanting you to turn.” David brushed his hand back from her cheeks down to her neck, holding the back of her neck and he leaned down resting his forehead against hers. He closed his eyes for a moment before speaking again, and this time his voice was strained from his emotions. “So stop pushing me away. Stop pushing all of us away. What do you say Y/n? Wanna join?”
When they both opened their eyes and looked at each other, Y/n nodded. She felt happy but also still guilty for having ignored her boys. For having ignored David. “Yeah. . . I’m sorr-”
David shook his head, he didn’t want apologies, it was not her fault. “No, no apologies. All's forgiven. Let's get you back home and we’ll discuss your transition. Everything will be better now.”
