Jinu had become a wheezing throne underneath Zoey after she'd sat all her weight on him, but her attempts to restrain him finally stop. Rumi can see the lights turn on behind both her and Mira's eyes; they glance between Jinu's flailing limbs and Rumi's own mortified expression, a little dazed by the reality of it. They're asleep — but not. Waking worlds and dreams aren't supposed to go hand in hand, yet here they are, gaining awareness that people don't usually get to discover in the trenches of REM sleep. In unison, Huntrix looks around and takes it all in. The rolling hills and rich forests around them look like they're pulled from a pretty painted picture, with the broader strokes ripped from Jinu's memory. Tree trunks are lined thick in impasto strokes, and flower petals twinkle like broken glass. It's a stark contrast to the dim and barren realm they'd fallen into.
Mira gawks at this serene world around them as if it had gone from black and white to full color. "Wait... We’re in a dream? Your dreams?"
Rumi understands the disorientation, because she'd had a hard time grounding herself during these sleep-walks too. She thinks about the incident in the bath house dream — how she'd smacked Jinu to near-death with a scrub brush to get him out of the tub — and turns a little red in the ears with the memory. (No, she thinks, don't think about that too much, or we'll all end up suddenly naked in a bath...)
She breathes out and says, "Technically, I think we're in his dream right now."
And it's more beautiful and calming than she even remembers. Better than the last place she'd visited in his mind...
Bless his heart, Jinu is still fighting against his new occupation as a floor mat, squirming and trying to shove Zoey over. "Will you — get — off of me...!"
Zoey leaps off him in an apologetic heartbeat. “Oh, jeez! Sorry! We’ve just been looking for you.”
From the floor, he grumbles, “Well, you found me.”
