Adopted the day after she was born, Nia was welcomed into the Clairmont family with open arms. Adored by her adopted older brother from day one. Joining a prominent family of Kismet Harbor.
From an early age she had always been that person to want to help another whatever that may look like; putting those ahead of herself. Even as a child, Nia was unusually composed. She could sit through an entire conversation without fidgeting, her big brown eyes absorbing everything. She had learned when she was young that she was adopted but her biological family didn’t matter. Her adoptive one did as they chose her, they wanted her. Never even to this day wanting to find those connected by blood - in fact she didn’t want to find them. The Clairmont family being the ONLY family she needed.
As a child, she lit up the room—quick with a quip, an unexpected smile, or a deadpan joke that left people second-guessing whether she was serious. Teachers often described her as “the calm in the chaos,” and friends called her “the rock with a punchline.”
By the time high school came around, she was an overachiever; earning straight A’s and able to make friends with anyone and everyone. That included an older boy named Veni; one who had moved from Italy recently. They struck up a friendship and from there it blossomed into something more. Something she thought would last forever. However, as they went their separate ways the romance soon fizzled out. Though she’ll always consider him her first love.
After graduating college with a degree in human resources, she found herself drawn not to the corporate rat race, but to the quieter, more human side of the workplace: helping people understand the benefits they were entitled to. As a Benefits Specialist, she’s a mix of approachable and unreadable—people trust her even if they can't gauge her thoughts.
She’s especially good with clients in crisis—those facing layoffs, illness, or family emergencies. Nia has a gift for breaking complex systems into something human, something hopeful.
Now she lives in Downtown Kismet, with her French Bulldog Gizmo. She talks to her parents every day, sees her brother while working at City Hall, and is looking forward to what comes next.
"I agree." Jet nodded. He was a fresh air kind of guy anyways, but he had to agree that some of his best parts of the day often happened on his lunch breaks. Sitting in the sunshine, a text sent to his family wishing them a good day; it was the highlight of his day that was for sure. "I'd love the company." he smiled with a nod. "And if you're sure your furry guy at home won't mind than I'm sure I speak for Gus too when I say that you are more than welcome to join us." he smiled. "Other than it being, well, work, how's your day been so far? Anything you want to get off your chest? I've been told I'm a great listener." @niaclairmont
"The fresh air is a nice contrast up the stuffy office," her own being at city hall and one couldn't really open up a window too much. So she would go outside when she could, even if it was just to take a ten minute break and reset. "Great," she smiled before shaking his head, "Eh even if he does, he'll get over it." She waved him off playfully before chuckling. "Trust me, Gizmo will be fine. If not, I'll just have to set up a doggy play date with him and Gus," she shrugged before adding, "honestly not much. Just working and adulting and going day by day. How about you?" @jeffersontcooper
"There is so much I can." He winked at her as he brushed her hair behind her ear with a smirk on his lips. "I try my best to keep you always on my mind," so he didn't forget things. "Hard to forget what you light on fire," sort of, he teased with a laugh. "I made sure to get the best I can," the best made in town for her so she would love it.
He had loved her since high school, and even after a breakup and years apart, that didn't change. He did try to move on and meet someone, but it never worked out. "My love," he said, holding onto her hand. "I have this place. It's big and nice..." He smiled at her. "I want to know if you want to move in with me...." He hoped it was okay, that she wanted to, and it wasn't too much. @niaclairmont
She blushed and hid her face in her hands, before chuckling and taking in a breath. "You do a lot you know," she nodded and reached for his hand, "and you're always on my mind too." Her eyebrows shot up and she smirked at his next comment, "wow babe. And you do get the best. Always."
There was no one she loved more in this world and it was evident by the way she melted at his words. Watching as he held her hands, her heart started racing and she was getting flustered. "I...," she started to say and looked around, "I would love that. As long as you're okay with Gizmo coming too." @venixvitale
Laila had been quietly sipping on her wine on the side, just silently observing the group of people who were attending this event. Networking events were a necessary evil for her and they always had been. She was a people person yes, but schmoozing up to people in order to get a favour or grant one, she hated that sometimes. “Honestly yes,” she said quickly when she noticed the other woman coming to stand with her. “Vineyards are the perfect place where it’s acceptable to be day drunk, that’s why. Besides, most of these people don’t have to go back to work when the event finishes, not like some of us,” she said raising her glass, indicating that she certainly did have work to get back to. “But I’m glad you found me, it’s nice to have someone to commiserate with.” | @niaclairmont
Being drunk or even being wine drunk wasn't the issue, it was more so if the fact that she'd have to get back to work after this. Wine made her relax more and give her the attitude of not wanting to do any type of work than to give her confidence and boost her morale. After years of unwinding after work with a glass of wine or relaxing with friends over a bottle, it had made its mark. "True, and if only we didn't have to go back," she looked around, wondering if they could find an egress to slip out of an escape for the rest of the day. "Must be nice to not have to worry about any work done after these things." She chuckled softly and lifted her shoulders, knowing that's what life as an adult was about. Having to work when not wanting to. "I'm glad too, and absolutely, and thankfully someone who understands this too." @lailaxmir
She laughed before sucking in some air and shaking her head. "Because we live in Northern Oregon and the damn ocea is always freezing." She said as she moved a little further in, feeling the ache in her bones from the cold. "God, okay. I may just dip in and then run out. I don't thinkI can stay in here. I don't know how we did it as kids." She complained and looked over at Nia. "On the count of three?" @niaclairmont
Letting out a grunble, "ah why does it have to be all cold in northern Oregon!?" She shook her head, wrapping her arms around herself as she knew how cold the water was going to be. As they moved forward, she let out another groan and grumble as she braced for the rush of cold. "No judgment from me if you do," she put up her hands, "because I might do the same." She shook her head, "I don't know!" She yelled before nodded and held out her hand, "on the count of three. One... Two... Three!" @martyxrivera
A networking event at a vineyard wasn't exactly how Nia wanted to spend her afternoon. But working in city hall and working for the town if Kismet meant she had to attend these functions. So she figured at least she'd be able to have some wine and enjoy the weather, something that actually fit into the pro column instead of the cons one. "Are you avoiding everyone too?" Nia replied as she found Laila off to the side, instead of in the mix of the crowd. "I never understood why they de ided to host this thing at the vineyard? Too many people are going to get wine drunk before two in the afternoon and I am not about to be caught in the middle of that."
"You are better than you think," with how much he spoke to her in Italian, she knew a lot. "But I can always teach you more," helped talk to his family more, and relate, would be nice. "I try." Thankfully, he was able to get a small one made, and all he had to do was heat the sugars on top, so it was easy for him. "I cant forget what you like" he smiled as he got a fork and took a bite out and held it out to her for a bite. He had two forks but had feed her the first bite.
Once they both had a few bites, he smiled at her for a moment. He knew how much he loved and cared about her, he knew she loved him too. But he was still nervous. "Nia," he smiled at her, "I have something to ask you," he smiled at her. @niaclairmont
"I try," she playfully brushed fake dust off her shoulders before taking a sip of the wine. "Oh you can? What else can you teach me?" She said in a sultry voice, her fingers walking up his arm playfully. "You do, and you do well," she smiles at him, watching him brulee the desserts which she was excited to try. "I still can't believe you remembered after all this time," it hadn't really come up since they had been together but she was happily surprised he remembered. She leaned forward and took a bite of it, "it's so good."
After having some, sharing the dessert, she leaned back in her chair. She was totally head over heels in love with him and that love kept growing. Her eyebrows lifted as he said her name, "yes Veni?" She asked before arching an eyebrow, "what is it?" @venixvitale
"Always will." She said before smiling bigger. "Perfect. Let's go." She said and kicked off her shoes. A laugh came from Marty's lips while taking Nia's hand. "I'm not gonna push. We're not kids anymore." She said, but maybe she would splash her best friend. She had to make it fun somehow. "Let's go." She agreed and headed down to the water before dipping her feet in. "Shit! I always forget how cold the water is." @niaclairmont
"Good, you better," she winked and smiled and kicked off her shoes, following Marty's doing of her own. As she took Marty's hand, she laughed, racing towards the water. "Good," she giggled as the warm sand crunched beneath her feet as they made their way to wards the ocean. It had been way too long since she had gone for a dip and the temperature of the water surprised her. "Fuck!" She exclaimed and shivered, "it is. Why is it always so damn cold!?" @martyxrivera
"We are," he didnt have much luck when it wasn't with Nia as much as he did try after their breakup, his mind always went to her. "Mostly, I am no expert, but some are better with different types of wine," But he knew more than normal from his family and the restaurant. "Oh yes, so worried," he teased as he hoped she wouldn't worry and this was going to go well.
He put two small Creme brulee's on a tray and carried it outside with a small torch so he could burn the sugars on top. "Here we go," he grinned. This was one part of the surprise, but not the main thing. He moved to the table he had outside, small sat in the middle of two chairs. "I know you like it..." he winked at her as he lit the torch and got the sugars done before he set it back down. "There," he smiled.
She could feel her cheeks warming from blushing and she knew he could most certainly see it. There was no one she loved more than him, and she was so happy they found their way back to one another. "Yeah I'm far from an expert and usually rely on others to choose," with wine that is, she had opinions and knowledge on other things just not wine. "Very funny," she replied with a rolling of her eyes and stuck her tongue out at him.
She settled in outside and waited for him, smiling as he brought out dessert. "Oh fancy," she beamed and then watched as he prepared them. "Absolutely my favorite, you remembered. Even after all these years." @venixvitale
"I do love getting to enjoy my lunch outside." Jet nodded, eyes focused on the other. He tried to take at least an hour in each part of the day - morning, afternoon and evening - when he could to walk the dog or at the very least get some time outside - and he were a true believer that it helped his mood tremendously. "It's always such a bummer when the weather is gross." he exhaled. "I don't want you to feel obligated." he spoke with a pause. "But if you want to join us on a walk I'm certainly not going to say no." he smiled. "This little guy -" he spoke, despite the fact his golden retriever was far from small - "loves company and does not care if other people's dogs are offended. He used to try to plop himself in other people's laps but we thankfully broke that habit, didn't we Gus?" he laughed. @niaclairmont
Looking uup and closing her eyes, she let the sun shine and warm her face. It was one of the best parts of her day, getting to take a break and get some fresh air. That one hour in the middle of the day broke of the monotony of the corporate world. "Me too," she smiled, now looking at the man beside her, "especially during lunch. Something about the fresh air that just helps the day move faster. And oh totally. It damoens the mood when it's rainy out." She didn't mean to make a pun but it really did. "I'd love to," she nodded with a smile, "and I'd feel honored to join you both. And eh Gizmo my dog will get over it. He'll be fine." @jeffersontcooper
Hearing what she said, he smiled, "You and me both." Some had come and gone after her, but he never felt close to them like he did with Nia. "You know more than you think," he did think so maybe she understood him the most, but he knew she could get by if needed. "What's the fun if I tell you?" he teased as he enjoyed his meal and wine with her while making small talk.
Once done he smiled as he placed the dishes in the sink. "They can wait," he smiled. "Meet me out on the deck." It had a nice view; he wasn't on the beach, but he could see it and enjoyed seeing the planes flying. @niaclairmont
"We are, aren't we?" She giggled, "getting a second chance at us. Truly blessed and lucky I'd say." She put up her hands as if to preach before chuckling and taking a bite of her food. "Honestly I just know if it's white you drink it cold but not red," she shrugged a bit though she didn't know anything more than that really. "I mean it would be fun for me so I don't have to wait and try to figure it out," she quipped back with a smirk before taking another sip.
The food had been amazing and she was stuffed, as she always was after eating the food from his family's restaurant. Leaving the dishes, she was curious as to why he'd ask her to meet him outside on the deck. "Should I be worried Veni?" She teased as she joined him outside. @venixvitale
He smiled at her for a moment. "I speak what is true," he smiled at her. he knew she wasn't the best at Italian, but she knew enough to get by and understand what he told her. It was from years ago when he arrived in town and she helped with his English. "I would hope you liked it by now," he teased as he walked inside with her with a laugh. "Please, you know more than you think," even if it was by taste, she knew what was good or what was not. "I try," he said as he held up his glass, then set it down to cut his food to take a bite. "I also have something special for after dinner," he winked at her. @niaclairmont
"How'd I get so lucky? Especially with round two of us," it wasn't lost on her how they had gotten a second chance at love. How this time around felt much more natural and amazing especially that they were both now adults and could do as they please. There were no others telling them they couldn't be together because of distance or whatnot. "Of course I do," she winked at him, taking another sip of the wine, "only a little. I get by a little bit." She couldn't exactly hold up a long conversation about it but she could at lest understand the basics. She smiled and her eyes got wide before starting to eat, "and what might that be?" @venixvitale
"It's been a while." Marty said and took a deep breath as she fanned herself a little. She was desperate to get cool and that water was looking nicer and nicer every second. "That might be wise." She laughed. "Good. I'm glad that we share that sentiment and you're not gonna push me in the water." She teased her. "Alright, are we doing this before I sweat to death?" @niaclairmont
"Yeah," she nodded, using the back of her arm to wipe her brow of the sweat that had accumulated. The sun was shining high and hot and she couldn't wait to go for a swim. "Just call me the wisest," she said with a laugh and a nod. "Good and yes, hey that's why we're best friends," amongst other things but they were usually on the same page with one another thankfully. "No pushing whatsoever," she out up her hands before getting up and offering her hand to take, "let's do this before we're both roasted." @martyxrivera
Veni smiled at her, "Sei il mio amore; le mie parole d'amore verranno sempre spontanee," he spoke to her. He knew she knew her Italian well enough from being around him for so many years now. He did his best to teach her as much as she helped him learn English when he first arrived. "it is some of the best, "he knew it was something she would always like as much as he would. "she got the talent in the family now," he chuckled as he was in the kitchen now.
"Okay," he smiled, he knew she didnt know it well, but had seen if she had one she felt like. He went and grabbed one bottle and read it over, "This should pair well," he said as he opened it and made them each a glass. "Sit, I will get the food," he said, looking at the kitchen table. @niaclairmont
"You always had a way with words," she shook her head and blushed again, his Italian always making her giggle. She felt like a school girl when he complimented her her, when he called her beautiful, or just when he spoke Italian. She was able to understand it a little bit, his point definitely always getting across. "Your family's restaurant is my favorite and I do enjoy your sister's cooking," she agreed and got comfortable, fixing her hair and putting strands behind her ears.
"I am good at the drinking but not the picking," she said with a giggle, "but I trust you. Even if you're not a cook." She gave him a wink before taking the glass and a sip, "Perfect." @venixvitale
He smiled at her for a moment and gave her a kiss back. "You look amazing, Amore," he smiled at her as he held her hand and walked her inside. He had plans he had dinner orderd and being kept warm in the oven . "Vitale dinner tonight," as you could smell it in the air. Initially, it was always such a strong smell, but the food was always amazing. " I did help a little, but mostly it was my sister,"he chuckled lightly as he walked to the kitchen with her.
"What wine would you like?" he had a wine fridge with wines from all over the world with his travels. "You know any will go with dinner?" he smiled at her for a moment. "How are you doing tonight?" he asked excited yet nervous for his plans. @niaclairmont
She blushed as he called her beautiful, giggling as she did, hiding her face behind her hands. "You always had a way with words," she piped up as she followed closely next to him, her hand in his. "Yummy, I always love the food from the restaurant," she gave the air a good sniff and smiled. "Helping is a good start," she smiled, "your sister is a good cook always has been."
Looking about and thinking, "hm you pick. You're better at that than me." She laughed and shook her head, "maybe some red wine then? Otherwise your guess is as good as mine." Settling into a chair, she gazed upon him, "I'm good. How about you?" @venixvitale
She shook her head. "I don't think anyone did. And the fact it's a heat wave is crazy." But for them, 80 degrees was definitely crazy. Laughing, Marty shook her head. "If we find a floating door, there's probably more we should be worried about than sharing space." She teased with her best friend. "But if we do need it, I promise to share the door if you do." @niaclairmont
Picking up some sand in her hand and letting it fall through her fingers, she shook her head. The sun and sand were both hot and she'd be happy to go for a swim. "I can't believe the heat, I can't remember the last time we had a heat wave this bad," she looked over at Marty and playfully fanned herself. "Okay touche, we'll send out an SOS signal first before we climb on the door," she nodded, "of course. There's only a handful of people I'd happily share it with. You being one of them." @martyxrivera
He had been wanting to do this for a while, but with work and life, some things took a while. He had gotten back from Italy and had some fresh wine and chocolates, just wanting to spoil Nia. He had asked her to come over for a date, sort of to hang out and eat, just be with each other.
He looked out the window of his home, which was large for himself, a two-bedroom with an office/den space, a living room, and a large kitchen and dining room, so he had enough room for himself and more.
He watched from the window till he saw Nia drive up and smiled a she walked down the stairs and towards her car to wait for her to walk her inside. "My love," he smiled as he walked up to her car. @niaclairmont
Date night had always held a special place in Noa's heart. Especially those with Veni, even more so since they had gotten back together. It was a time where they could truly connect with one another, where there were no distractions or work or anyone butting in. It was just the two of them and whatever they had chosen to do for that time.
So going over Veni's for date night had never been out of the ordinary. They'd order in or she'd cook, and then they'd get to relax and e joy one another's company. Making sure her dog was walked and fed, she let her neighbor know that if she'd be staying the night at Veni's that Gizmo would have to be walked in the morning.
Driving to Veni's she had the window down and the music up, her hair blowing in the wind. But it was a short drive and by the time she turned the car off, she could see him coming down the drive way. "Hi you," she said as she gave him a soft kiss on the lips, "how was your day?" @venixvitale
