Raised by humanitarian parents, Niamh and her older brother, Alistair, were Third Culture Kids (a.k.a. TCKs); this meant that every two-three years, the family would move depending on which country their parents were posted to next. What may seem like a traveler's wanderlust dream come true isn't quite how Niamh would describe her formative years, as trying to adapt to different environments every so often posed many challenges. It was a perpetual whirlwind of change for a time when children ought to grow with stability. Nevertheless, Niamh did her best to persevere, finding inspiration from her parents' human rights work as her driving force. She honed her natural skill at learning languages and pushed past her speech impediment to eventually secure a position at a law firm in London, before relocating to New York City to become an interpreter/translator at UNHQ. All her life, Niamh has always been in constant motion, both literally and metaphorically, whether she liked it or not. May it be school, work, friends or family, she was constantly engaged, leading those close to her to ponder what was it that she was pursuing so relentlessly. Or perhaps, the better question would be: what was it she was trying to escape?
