Meet Me
Austin sat at the table by himself, thoughts racing through his head about what he should say, how she’ll look, and so many other things. He sat with his head down, playing his game but barely even paying attention to it. He couldn’t stop the memories from flooding into his head, but he had to shake them. Things were different now, he had ruined all of that. He wanted to make things right and at least just be friends with the girl again. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt his phone buzz, but his head snapped up when he read her text. He smiled nervously and hopped up, walking over to the door to meet her. “Hey tthere, stranger.” He said, waving as he approached her. He didn’t know whether to hug her or not, not wanting to overstep his boundaries. He pulled her into a sort of one armed side hug. “Nicolette Evans, how the hell are ya? C’mon, let’s get some coffee..get what you want, it’s on me.” He said, walking back into the cafe.
When she saw Austin, Nicolettes heart skipped a beat. He was beautiful as ever, he always was, but it was different. He looked older, more mature. A good different. She smiled as he wrapped an arm around her chuckling. “Hey stranger.” She stepped back to look him over. “I’m doing alright, getting by, can’t complain.” She sighed. “What about you? What the hell brings you back to this stupid ol’ town? Hollywood get too boring for you?” She smiled as if to let him know she was joking, before taking a step forward in the direction of the counter, turning her head back to look at him. “No don’t be silly! You just got back, let me get you something.” The small girl ran a hand through her hair, ruffling her fingers through the strands of hair. “Do you know what you want?” She asked him eyeing the menu.
She felt a little tense and awkward. Small talk wasn't the girls forte, it never was. She didn't know how to have a casual conversation with Austin, especially not when she knew so much about the boy, She wanted to say something, anything, but she just didn't know how.
Meet Me
Austin put his phone down and walked into the bathroom in his apartment where he fixed up his hair, making sure that the blonde streak was in just the right spot. He went back into his room and placed a black snapback on his head, backwards of course. He threw a flannel shirt over the tank top he was wearing on his muscular torso. He slipped on a pair of shoes and was out the door and on his way to meet Nicolette for coffee. He was admittedly a bit nervous to see the girl, being as how badly he had screwed things up with her before he left for California. He arrived at the coffee shop and went to go sit in a corner booth while he waited for Nicolette to arrive. He sat there tapping his foot on the ground nervously while he tried to distract himself with a game on his phone.
Admittedly, when Nicolette had gotten the text from Austin she was more than confused. After such a long period of time of her trying to get over the boy and forget about him, months of forget about him; he’s gone now; you need to get over him she had finally managed to delete his contact out of her phone(it wasn’t like she needed it anymore anyway) and tried to move on. So when the unknown number had been Austin, she was ultimately shocked. Happy too, of course. Austin would always remain special to her, someone she could always trust. And she had missed the boy, so much, and knowing he was back made her heart leap. She had to remind herself to be careful though, because all of the progress she had made without the boy couldn't all just go down the drain now that he was back. She refused to go putty in his hands.
After making the plans to meet, she locked her phone and slipped it in her back pocket, entering her bathroom to quickly fix her hair and make herself somewhat presentable. Slipping on her vans and throwing a windbreaker on she set off for the coffee shop. It was sort of bittersweet to be getting coffee with the boy, she remember that was something they constantly did while they were dating. Shaking the memories out of her mind she continued the short walk to her destination. Standing outside the entrance she shot the boy a text I’m here and slipped the phone back into her pocket opening the door and getting hit with the warm smell of fresh coffee and pastries.
Text: Austin
Austin: yeah, i don't wanna make you sit in a car with me and my icky fuck boy germs
Austin: meet me in 20?
Nicolette: Yeah, nobody would want that
Nicolette: k, i'll see you there
Text: Austin
Austin: bless that damn school :)
Austin: wanna just get coffee and take a walk or something? it's hella nice out
Nicolette: Yeah sure.
Nicolette: Am I meeting you there or?
Text: Austin
Austin: you don't have to..it was just an idea.
Austin: wherever and whenever..i'm free all the time, including now but I know you have school in the morning so I get it of you can't come out.
Austin: i just wanna see you
Nicolette: Actually, its your lucky night, I'm on spring break, so thankfully no school in the morning.
Nicolette: We can do it tonight if you want? I'm not sure what exactly we'd do but..
Text: Austin
Austin: lol i wish...i met a couple of like random artists who are still fairly new in the industry
Austin: would you wanna see me?
Austin: like..when you are free
Nicolette: Still cool, nonetheless.
Nicoletee: I um, sure. okay. When and where?
Text: Austin
Austin: but hey, you're almost done at least..see, I remembered you're graduating soon :)
Austin: I've been great tbh...spent a bunch of time out in California right after I graduated, working on some music and stuff. I got a paid internship with a record company, that's why I was all the way out there.
Austin: I'm sorry i never said goodbye when I left..the opportunity came out of no where and i had to go basically right away..
Nicolette: Yeah, thankfully!
Nicolette: That's cool. Did you get to party with any celebs while you were out there? :p
Text: Austin
Austin: good to hear. i'm good, how are youu?
Nicolette: I'm alright, last bit of school kicking my ass. How have you been? i haven't seen you around here since like, before you graduated.
Text: Austin
Austin: it's Austin, remember me?
Nicolette: OH
Nicolette: of course I remember you.
Nicolette: Hey, how are you?
Text: Unknown
Austin: hey
Nicolette: ..who is this?
What’s up, boo thang?
Just stressed. Hey congrats on graduating though! I knew you'd do it.
I wish I could just throw all of my problems in a dumpster and not worry about them.
