The Soviet Union was a colonial empire. It just didn’t look like one to outsiders, especially in the West. No oceans between Moscow and Central Asia, the Baltics, or the Caucasus, so people don’t put it in the same category as Britain in India or Belgium in the Congo. But the blueprint? Basically identical: domination, cultural suppression, forced assimilation, resource extraction, violent crackdowns on dissent.
And all of it was wrapped in revolutionary aesthetics—“international solidarity,” “proletarian unity,” “liberating the working class.” Meanwhile: Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and the Baltics were stripped of autonomy, intellectuals were purged, cultures were Russified, the Holodomor was used as a weapon, and entire ethnic groups like the Crimean Tatars and Chechens were forcibly deported.
That’s not socialism. That’s empire.
It’s wild how some folks on the left will (rightfully) drag U.S. imperialism all day long, but go silent—or even get defensive—when Soviet or Chinese colonialism comes up. Like, being anti-West doesn’t automatically make you anti-colonial.
Colonialism is colonialism, no matter what flag it flies or what slogans it shouts.
Hey guys! Check out this block of pure sodium that I got!
It looks dirty, you should wash it!
So funny that we can just, like, assault trainers out of nowhere now.
29 years of them jumping us when we walked into their line of sight, now it's our turn.
I FUCKED UP
"copyright is good in theory" did you know that you can digitize books and then have infinite copies so in theory every book, every piece of information ever written and published could be shared across the world basically for free but any attempts to actually do this get shut down by copyright lawyers?
they don't get shut down by copyright lawyers; they get distributed to a network of online mirrors that can expand without limit; sci-hub, libgen, zlib, ... others. they are sometimes called 'shadow libraries' and they are invincible. by the time the culture of distributing copies reaches this level of maturity, no copyright lawyer can shut it down. states are the actors who attempt to stop them, but they succeed in stopping this or that node, and never in blowing down the house of cards.
insofar as so-called piracy is this free and easy, only the ignorant or incapable are made to respect it. thus people who rely on copyright protections to make their money are like characters we find in Villon; swindlers, hoodlums, hucksters and the like, trading on the dupability of others. in fact, this is true not only of intellectual property, but all property; big agriculture and pharmaceutical companies and such may make the money they do only when they hoodwink others into thinking what is theirs isn't theirs too (and when hoodwinking fails, iron and black powder suffice).
I want to do a series of polls, and for this I need information. Reblog if you consider yourself a part of wormblr.
seeing people complain about z-a's beautiful visuals on tumblr is such a jumpscare. this is tumblr, why are you talking like a reddit user. u would do numbers on reddit. go to reddit and leave us be to have fun talking about pokemon without hearing someone throw a tantrum about fictional trees that dont even look bad pls. i bet ur the kinda person just itching to defend the ps5 pro being $700 too arentcha
Bro's complaining that they didn't 3D model every individual window. I do not see why that's an issue.
This isn't a ps1 game, they have the budget and hardware to make it so much better.
The best music comes from taking a band that absolutely hates each other and forcing them to make an album

Folk Music my beloved
Folk music or "Folk music"?
That’s not quite true. The reporter behind the story, Daphne Caruana Galizia, was murdered.
After mass protests, the Prime Minister of Iceland was forced to resign, along with many other members of the ruling party.
After mass protests, the President of Pakistan was forced to resign, along with many other members of the ruling party.
Worldwide, hundreds of people – many rich and powerful – were arrested.
Billions in stolen assets were returned to the people.
And 82 countries changed their laws to crack down on the wealth hoarding the papers revealed.
(Source here)
To say the Panama Papers accomplished nothing is an insult to Daphne Galizia’s memory. Her work, and the work of the hundreds of other journalists who contributed to the Papers, changed the world.
Disinformation like this is designed to discourage you, to make you feel you’re powerless against the monsters of the world. They want you to feel that way, because they are terrified of your power to make change.
Take your power back. Demand better. Keep fighting for a better world, because a better world is possible.
