Just wanted to get back here. I’m still using only twitter and plan on making better art accounts or website with selected artwork. Also I don’t use "alemarpio" anymore because tumblr is a mess with bots that promote pornography and that’s what happened with that username. I don’t know how to fix it. I swear tumblr is a mess. Guys don’t open my tumblr art blog with “alemarpio” in it. It redirects to some nsfw stuff rn. I need to fix it somehow. Thought I don’t know exactly how yet because I’m tech mess so any tips how to help would be very helpful. I changed my url to https://nickdziwny.tumblr.com/ so it won't redirect to some boobz. If you have saved my link as "alemarpio" then don't use it anymore please. Also I'm leaving this nickname in trash, I didn't even liked it. Too bad I can't change my watermarks but oh well. From now on I will use only "nickdziwny". Don't go to any website with "alemarpio" on it, it’s nsfw and it’s not me.

What brought Aleksy to Japan and how does he come to know about Ainu culture?

To answer this question first we need to know why he left his country.

There is some real history mixed in his fictional story.

Aleksy is a Polish man who always wanted to travel around the world yet after ending his bachelor (in Petersburg) and getting more education in this field of being ethnographer he found out that some of his family members were involved in group activities called "Narodnaja Wola" or in Polish language "Wojna Ludów" (which was a real thing by the way), that group was the one responsible for planning assassination attempt on emperor Aleksander III.

The plot was exposed long time ago but Aleksy didn’t wanted to risk staying in the country for too long because who knows what would happen to him or people close to him if somebody would be interested in his family also he always had this urge to go somewhere he never was before. He just wanted to see something new that wasn’t that much in the books and do a research about it.

Thanks to friends and some connections he made along the way he was able to travel to Sachalin aka Karafuto. By being there he was able to met other ethnographer who told him about the Ainu culture which sparked interest in him to see it on his own.

Also he was able to get a lot of new notes and knowledge, all thanks to this nice stranger that he spend some quality educational time with.

So he started looking around the places to find Ainu people, the places where those people hunted and lived. He was also looking for Ainu in Hokkaido.

would you ever do some type of mock-up notebook page that shows how he takes notes and how he draws? sort of like a first person perspective from him.

Whats Aleksy's favorite thing about Ainu culture?

Everyday with Ainu and learning something new about them is propably his favorite thing. He’s fascinated by the concept of Kamuy and how Ainu see it. And people from Ainu villages are usually surprised on how many things he takes notes and draws, about their everyday live he observes which he loves doing. He does not part with his notebook, he don’t want to miss anything new he can learn about the Japan or Ainu.
