Arden had two IDs on them. The first one was an old one, the name EMMA JOSTEN clearly printed on the piece of plastic – they only carried that one around because it reminded them of what they came from. The second one however, was the one they actually used with the name Arden printed on it. Although Arden wasn’t old enough to drink, they could still get into a bar seeing as how someone only needed to be eighteen for that. Arden mainly went for the atmosphere. Maybe they’d meet someone interesting. Maybe they could have a bit of fun for once. It seemed almost like a curse that it was only Wednesday – surely it was much LATER in the week than that. But every clock in town said the same thing. Sitting down, Arden ordered a soda from the bar. They weren’t sure if the person was actually talking to them until Arden turned their head. “Agreed. Seems like it ought to be Friday or something. I donno. Not a Wednesday Definitely not a Wednesday,” they replied with a heavy sigh. Arden was extremely tired and ready for a break.
Nick noted the heavy expression of exhaustion on their face, eyebrows creasing slightly “Yeah, I’d actually be in a more decent mood should it be Friday.” He continued to ferociously stab at the fruit buried underneath all the ice, letting out a frustrated sigh. His eyes drifted away from his focal point, over to the body of the person beside him. He offered them a shy grin, tilting his head to the side. “Thank you, by the way--you could’ve been the same person from last week who swatted my shoulder with friggin’ nine inch nails when I tried to start a conversation. Does everyone think they’re bein’ hit on lately or something? Shocker--there’re actually nice people in the world.” He hadn’t meant to go off on a tangent, and almost immediately, Nick clamped his mouth shut. “Anyway, uh, I’m here if you wanna talk about it.”
