wynn-wonder:
Salva was a big guy, with dark, hooded brows and a confident stride that made Wynn feel relatively small around him—and not just physically speaking. He was intimidating by appearances alone, but that wasn’t to say Wynn had anything against him. He did, however, have something about it that seemed sort of Slytherin, and Wynn still remembers the first time he saw the guy, thinking he must have been in Slytherin, and being surprised to find out he was dead wrong. Hufflepuff was like the opposing spectrum.
Still, it wasn’t fair to judge a book by its cover and all that, and Salva definitely hadn’t done anything to Wynn to make him think badly of him. Wynn was jut a little shy and a lot awkward, so it was hard to hide his surprise when the older boy asked to take the seat next to him.
“Oh—yeah—I mean, no, no it’s not taken. Go ahead and take it, no problem.” He offered a nervous smile. “Not sitting with your House today? Everything okay?” Why he would want to sit near a younger, socially awkward Ravenclaw was beyond Wynn.
He was aware that his appearance made him unapproachable, that was kind of the point. While Salva would never hurt anyone, other than himself -- he mentally put himself down all the time too. He knew that other people tended to avoid him based on the scowl he always wore and the fact that he just crested the 6′1″ mark. Salva didn’t mind if people thought poorly about him. Honestly, he wasn’t at all bothered by the fact that most people even thought he was a Slytherin. His father would have loved that. But while Salva had a tough looking exterior and was a beater on the quiddich pitch, he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Most people that had a conversation with him could tell that too. He was easily intimidated by others, didn’t know how to talk to most people, and spent much of his time beating himself up over small things he said in past conversations. Most people just didn’t know that.
The Hufflepuff had also been on a mission lately to befriend the Ravenclaws. There just weren’t that many at the castle that he truly wanted to befriend, except Piper and maybe Meredith, on specific days. He really hadn’t payed much attention to Wynn though. Only because he didn’t pay attention to anyone. The fact that it was his last year here and he could count on one hand the amount of people he enjoyed talking to was a sad fact. Not one that he wanted to change. “Thanks,” he said, taking a seat and looking at the table to see what there was to eat that he’d actually eat. Not much. “I don’t feel like being around them. Everyone’s too much to handle today.” There were a lot of stronger personality types in Hufflepuff that he just wanted to avoid today. On a normal day, he could handle them, just not today when he’d been working on schoolwork all day and just wanted to get away from the norm for a bit.
