“Please tell me that you’re good at baking, and that you’ve got a few free hours to help me make cookies or brownies or something from scratch. I’ve got some serious sucking up to do, and I don’t think any of those pre-packaged Betty Crocker mixes are gonna cut it.”
“I don’t know because I rarely bake, I’ll only help you if I get to have some of whatever you’re baking. There’s no point helping if I don’t get anything out of it.”

“Well, the old people are probably doing crossword puzzles because they’re bored and they don’t feel like doing anything else. I personally enjoy challenging my brain.“ He lifted up a small book he had in front of him on the ground. “One of these babies lasts me about two weeks, that’s when a new one comes out, too.” Freddy paused and thought for a moment before nodding lightly. “Yeah, from what I’ve seen him in, he’s not so bad. I prefer Tom Hanks, though. I mean Cast Away and Apollo 13… yes, please!”
“— which is why the old people do them because all they do is sit around and play card games all day. When I get old, i’m going to make sure I do more exciting things than that.” he grinned as looked at him. “I don’t really care for Tom Hanks. He’s alight. I like Johnny Depp better because of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Jack Sparrow was a badass. I watched those movies all the time when I was younger” he added.

“Oh– well…“ This was supposed to be a red-flag for the younger boy. After all, he knew better than to start random conversations with people who were (one way or another) a bad influence for him. At the same time, it was against Freddy’s nature to ignore somebody just because of a thing or two that they said. “I mean, obviously I’ve never seen it, but if it’s good, I’d say go for it.“
“Sorry i’m not much help. I just really don’t care for that crossword stuff — it’s boring. I thought it was something old people did.” he shrugged as he down beside him. He normally didn’t stop to others but he was bored and Freddy seemed interesting to be around. “You’re right. Once I find out what it is, i’ll watch it. Any Johnny Depp movie is usually good.”
“Co–pen… hagen. Yep. Copenhagen,“ Freddy muttered to himself as he sat on the floor after class, against the wall halfway down the hallway and in between of two pairs of chairs as he continued the crossword he had started this morning, before the classes had started. Scratching his curly head with the other end of the pencil, he looked up at the person passing by. “Excuse me, do you by any chance know the name of the movie where Johnny Depp played a drug smuggler?“ Only then realising how ridiculously insensitive that might have sounded, he quickly corrected himself, “It’s for the crossword, I promise!“
“— what?” Dominic asked in confusion, looking down at the younger boy as he put his phone away. “I have no idea what movie that is so I can’t help you, but it sounds interesting if it involves drugs.”

“You’re never in the mood, but don’t worry. I’m for once not being an asshole.” Giving him a smile she shrugged in return. It didn’t really seem like such a big favour, Nick was practically family after all with Addison and Amelia being so close. Chewing at the inside of her cheek as he sat, the brunette shook her head when the question left his lips. “Nah, just effort, so I don’t have to rewrite the entire thing.”
“I know that’s going to be hard for you not to be an asshole, but you can do it.” he teased as he laughed a bit. He was happy that Charlotte was willing to help him out, because he knew he had to pick up his grades if he wanted to graduate this year. “I would’ve preferred if you wrote the whole thing, but I guess I can give you effort.”

“And because you like me. Come on admit it.” The girl urged sitting up grinning. “Oh yay I’m so excited. Thank you, thank you thank you!” She kissed his cheek again, “You don’t know what you got yourself into. I hope you can keep up with the wildness that is me.”
“Hmm, sure. I’m not admitting it — yet.” he replied as he took another sip. “Don’t worry about me, I can handle myself. I think you should be the one wondering what you’ve got yourself in to. I know how to have fun.”

“Well I haven’t seen you in ages.” she said with a sigh waititng for the answer. “Well in my book honesty even if it’s brutal is better than lies.”
“I know, because mom hasn’t been calling you over because i’m too old for a babysitter.” he stated. “That’s what I always thought. It’s better to be told up front about something that to be lied to.”

“I’m very aware, Dominic.” They girl said rolling her eyes. “Aw Nick, was that a back handed compliment? Look at us making progress.” She giggled as she sat up and kissed his cheek. “I’ll give you a discount don’t worry.” She said as she lied back down. “Really? Well then keep the night 31st open, we’re gonna have a great time.” She said biting down her lip.
“If that’s what you wanna call it, then sure. Don’t expect those often, I only said it because it will put your big mouth to use.” he grinned when Ellis kissed his cheek. “Sure, i’ll keep it open. We will have a good time. Make sure you got your fake ID ready.”

“Volunteer? Why don’t you just be an EMT? I mean the money is not that bad.” She nodded slowly. “I was in surgery, I missed a lot of class. If I don’t catch up, I might have to take another semester. And yeah, come on I love a good argument.” She took a sip of her beer. “Oh come on, I’m hanging out with you now aren’t I? My social status will never die.” She giggled. “My birthday is in a few weeks. My mom wanted to do this party since I wasnt around for the past few since I was at boarding school and all…I might ditch it.”
“I don’t really want to be an EMT, plus I need experience before I can even think about getting a job. The working world is a rough place, Ellis. You’ll soon see that with all that lawyer stuff.” he nodded as well. “You would make a good lawyer, and be really good at bitching at the other people. If I ever need one, i’ll make sure to call you up.” he added, taking a sip from his beer. “Parties are overrated, ditch it. You can come over here if you’d like and we can have a few drinks...or hang out somewhere more interesting than a lame birthday party..”

“My parents told me a lot of things that weren’t true.” she said with a shrug. “But seriously Nick why would people call you that?”
“You’re right about that. Parents tell you so many lies as kids and once you get older, you realize it’s all bullshit.” he mumbled. “Clearly you haven’t seen me recently...People just don’t like how brutally honest I am. It’s fine though, I find it amusing.”

“Didn’t your parents tell you it’s not nice to call people dicks?” he asked as he let out a laugh. “On the other hand, I don’t care what you call me. I’ve heard it all before.”

“I’m not trying to insult you,” the brunette huffed in return, rolling her eyes. “Don’t be dramatic. I’m just letting you know what teachers are going to expect.” Laughing softly, she nodded her head. Though she wasn’t exactly a genius when it came to school herself, she was honestly pretty good at the essay stuff. Making a bit of room on the bed, she grabbed her laptop from where it sat on the edge of her bed before opening it up. “If you wanna write it at home or whatever and like email it to me, I can proofread it, and fix stuff. Like, change some words.. fix grammar. So it’ll still be your own, but.. better?”
“I hope you weren’t, because i’m not in the mood for it. Thanks for letting me know, I guess.” he shrugged his shoulders. Writing was one of Dominic’s weakest skills but he never chose to admit he had trouble with it. He took every opportunity to get someone else to write essays for him or give him ideas, even if it meant bribing people. He sat down beside her and looked at Charlotte. “That’s a good idea. At least it’s better than nothing. Do I owe you anything?”

“You thinking about college? It’s a huge change but it’s great. The girls are too, but you can’t do any better than me, I’ll tell ya damn straight.” The girl teased. “Me? um, I’m chillin. My back feels a lot better, and I have so much I have to catch up on. Sometimes I just wish preparing for law school didn’t require my sanity.” The girl huffed. She put her legs up and extended them over his lap.
“I’m not going to college. I don’t planning on wasting another four years of my life going to school. I’m going to volunteer at the fire station instead” he nodded. “That’s good you’re feeling better. I don’t know what exactly you need to catch up on though. Nothing exciting happens around here. Also.. I don’t know you were doing law school. Never would’ve guessed you to be a lawyer.” he said, looking at her in surprise. “That’s going to destroy your social life. It was nice knowing you, Ellis.” he teased.

“How could I not hear you? Ever since you got here all everyone can hear is your big, loud mouth that never shuts up. It’s getting really annoying. If you haven’t noticed my room is next door so I can’t really move.” he spat out as he crossed his arms. “I still don’t get why you’re here anyway. Did your dad get sick of you or something?”

“Hey, no it’s totally okay.” She said as she pulled her shoes off. She also took off her jacket revealing her cropped sweater top. She flopped on the bed as she grabbed a beer can and opened it while grabbing a pizza slice. “So how’re you doing?”
Dominic grabbed a beer can as well and opened up before sitting down beside Ellis. He glanced down at her as he took a sip. “I’m doing as good as I can right now. School is kicking my ass, I just want to graduate and get far away from that place. At least this will take my mind off things for awhile.” he said as he gestured to her beer can he was holding. “How about you?”
