Fossil Fighters Zine: Volume 2 by Cat-Dragron

artist's notes below

Page 1 - I wanted it to feel like those digital picture frames where there's multiple photos that slide through, which made it quite different from the other pages, leading to me drawing it last. Because of that, I realized I'd been neglecting Frontier, so all the backgrounds are of digsites from that game (also sinocera because i like its design).

Page 2 - I love Megalo, so I just had to include it this time. Because of the theme of elements and my self-imposed theme of abilities, I decided to feature Megalo's Null Breath scaring off some troublemakers (featuring a custom drawn super scare icon). And yes, the entire second panel is just a reference to You Are Umasou, one of my favorite movies.

Page 3 - The first panel is inspired by the supposed theory of Dimetrodons using their sails for thermoregulation as well as me thinking it'd be cute if they use it as a heat lamp for other reptiles. Also Frontier Seidon is cool as hell.

Page 4 - Funfact, that whirlpool is just traced from a Spongebob screenshot and it's not fair how well it worked. Despite the initial struggle with the whirlpool, this was a pretty easy background to work on and I'm quite proud of how I did the panel separator :) and yes I know Chopper Cyclone is a team skill, I just don't care.

Page 5 - Drawing the Radox being launched was pretty fun. The actual stampede of them though is just a bunch of copy and pasted ones with some being resized ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and drawing Hopter as the separator is a fun idea to me. I think I had a lot of fun ideas for the separators in this comic. Also I never want to draw Greenhorne Plains again :(

Page 6 - A battle between two of my ocs Alvess and Xu the Guan. They have beef and no one knows why. I drew the entire second panel with this image in mind btw

look man, bro's been alive for probably almost 100 years he gets a pass for being kinda fucked up, and that isn't even including his time possessed by luxu

anyways, this au takes place in a modern day scala ad caelum that's been completely abandoned and frozen in time. he was originally living on one of the gothic islands but the entirety of scala was completely swarmed by heartless, including him, after those gates in missing link started malfunctioning one after another, so the next time he wakes up he's suddenly on an entirely different island. so he just... keeps going, making the central tower as his "base of operations" and eventually just attributing the lack of aging to time not passing, which isn't wrong, but there's definitely other factors at play here buddy (imagine being 24 forever big oof)
