This is what we need AI for. Not generating pictures using millions of stolen pieces of art, or generating shitty false articles using the stolen work of hundreds of thousands of writers. AI can be good, and it can be used for good things. This is an incredible feat and I hope Priyanjali gets the recognition and support she deserves for this amazing project.

I don't think any commonplace human behavior repulses me more than hitting a child and especially hitting them for crying. Why the fuck is it normalized to punish crying at all, even nonphysically? We don't punish adults for crying. We don't typically suspect adults are crying for selfish reasons. We don't punish smaller babies for it either. Why is there a window in which crying is considered "bad behavior" in small kids. If they're crying it's because they already feel like shit about something they didn't choose to feel that way about.

Anyway the sight of it makes me want to cave their parents faces in with a brick. Nothing else quite fills me with the same damn near murderous hate. My parents never did that shit. If yours did tell them I still hate them.

I noticed today that the deadname of a client was clearly visible in their client file because it was their legal name, and flagged it for IT. I specifically flagged it as "Hey, if someone sees this and calls our client the wrong name, we'll lose them as a client." IT emailed me back immediately, and it's now invisible except on their contract with us, which the majority of us don't have direct access to, as opposed to their client file.

The reason I flagged it framing it as a loss is that what matters to most companies is money. If you can flag a bigoted practice as something that will lose customers, clients, or get them a lawsuit, that is significantly more likely to get taken care of quickly than trying to appeal to their better nature. I could have flagged it as "Hey, this is going to make our client really upset if they hear it.", which was my actual motivation for flagging it, but if I had, then it probably would have been taken care of in a few days or even weeks, not hours.

Always hit them with the profit argument for quick and decisive action.
