I started my design internship at Barefoot Books a few weeks back! Everyone there is so welcoming, and one of the many perks is that I get to keep old book proofs. I used pages of There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea to make envelope collages.

Lovely "fan" mail from an even lovelier friend! Shipped in a plastic tube. Complete with lettering on one side and a message on the other.
I visited Herbaria a while back—they provide free tours and then provide materials for molded soaps. Everyone who works there is very sweet. They even have a shop dog, Soapy, as their mascot.

B. got me the Game of Thrones pop-up book to celebrate graduation. I don't know how to adequately explain how excited I was/am/will be every single time I look at it, so here are some exclamation points: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been working on greeting cards for my licensed image class, taught by the amazing Linda Solovic. For inspiration, Linda brought in baskets upon baskets of vintage cards that she's been collecting over the years. I was immediately drawn toward the ones that pop, spin, fold, and surprise. Pictured above are a few of my favorites! Ultimately, the project has turned into a lettering exercise in response to the Ken Barber lecture and workshops, but these cards are influencing my thesis.
This weekend, I was lucky enough to attend a lecture and a series of workshops led by Ken Barber, letterer and typeface designer at House Industries, through AIGA St. Louis. Pictured above are postcards and pamphlets he distributed to his students and a limited edition letterpress print I purchased afterward.
More outgoing mail. I bought a book of Charley Harper bird postcards last year and I'm finally forcing myself to part with them. Sadly, they're oversized so I can't slap USPS's lovely new hummingbird postcard stamps on them!
Lettered some envelopes last night for some friends who each deserved a hearty thank you. Also, happy March!
My (extremely!) rough working dummy of the interactive children's book I'm creating for my illustration thesis. So many different animals and insects are making special appearances in this book about camouflage and mimicry in rain forests.
I'm currently exploring different illustration styles. Haven't even given thought to the typography yet. It'll by finished by early April… meep.
My "Cottontail Garden" pattern collection used as wrapping paper!
I finished my "Cottontail Garden" patterns! These rabbits can be found throughout the woods where I grew up. In the summer, my dad and I would go to the wildlife refuge every day, where we watched entire critter families grow up. I drew Grandpa Bunny first, inspired by our poorly landscaped yard and the animals it attracted. This is my initial attempt at pattern making—more to come!
Ahhh! I went to the mailroom to pick up a package but found something even better waiting in my mailbox. What a wonderful surprise. Also love the care put into protecting the inner card from the weather… !
Found this bloom taped to my door when I woke up. I have the sweetest roommates.
