Coupla shots from paragliding in Pokhara.
Does anyone else think my thighs look incredibly powerful or is it just me?
Me, ignoring common sense and my own sense of impending doom.
Hadda post to YouTube coz they don't allow videos that extreme on tumblr (click title to view).
The beers tasted so sweet when they hit my lips. Today I bungee jumped from the third highest bungee jump in the world at a place called the Lost Resort which touts itself as being on the border with Tibet. Presumably because being a venue for bungee jumping and canyoning just isn't sexy enough and obviously requires that extra touch of mystique. It is 160 metres and you jump down directly into a rocky river called Bhote Khosi. I have two photos to post today. One is from the bus trip and shows the tallest statute of Shiva in the known world. The other is a shot of the bridge from which I jumped. The video of said jump will appear on this Tumblr as soon as I get it. Probs in the next 3 or 4 days. For those of you registering this information for the first time, yes I am a complete badass and live life to the (Pepsi) max.
That oughta hold the little SOBs
Just posted up a bunch of photos from my camera. I was going to post more but unfortunately the power in the entire hotel dropped out. Also I had to unplug the keyboard to plug in the camera so it was a whole thing and frankly I just ran out of steam with the whole project. The power outage was a convenient out. Nonetheless, there are a couple of nice shots of the annapurnas which I encourage you to check out as I think they give a better impression than did my previous photos of the same subject. I also just want to let my family and close friends know that I love them very much. Normally I wouldn't go in for such sickening sentiments, but tomorrow I am going bungee jumping at some remote outpost so it seems appropriate. Why, I cannot say. If pressed, I would probably conclude that the motive is simply to do something, as otherwise I would just sit around drinking, and everyone knows that booze tastes better if you have risked your life that day. If I survive, and can convincingly edit out the parts where I am blubbering like a toddler and wetting myself (also like a toddler), then I will post up whatever photographic/video evidence of the deed I can. Nick
Do you want to see a photo of a guy who paints himself white and smokes weed cos its holy? Do you want to see a photo of kathmandu taken from the top of one of its most venerated temples? Well, do you? I was told you did. I apologise if I am mistaken. Hmmmph..
Okay, I'll admit it - these photos are pretty mundane but it's not all sublime wonder folks. Sometimes it's just bof, or in the English, meh. The first two are shots taken from near where the paragliding went down in Pokhara, and the last one is a shot of Fewa Tal, Pokhara's main lake which, unlike many other bodies of water in Nepal, isn't filled with trash!
Yeah feast your quivering jellies on these treats. All were taken from the top of Thanimai in Bandipur and ALL are breathtaking and an obvious testament to nature's wonder. Including the obligatory selfy. Photos one and four are of the Annapurnas including the famed Machhapucchare (fishtail) and aren't they beautiful?
In this riveting video, you get to go behind the scenes and see what rhinos REALLY get up to in the wild. Shot on location from elephant-back, in the handicam style popularised by the Bourne series of films, this video shows what it is like to really LIVE, not simply exist, you sad drones you. Prepare to have your minds sexytimed by video footage.
Some photos from Chitwan, down in the Terai plains in the South of Nepal. Big time malaria zone and I didn’t even get bitten once! When you apply cologne the way I do, ensuring full coverage of a spray-on insect repellent is child’s play.
Your photos and travel blogging are rad. Asia especially high Asia seems to be one of if not the coolest parts of the world. So I have three questions; 1. What was the cooler part of parahawk gliding - the soaring through the skies of Nepal sans engine or following a bird guide to sweet thermals? 2. How far progressed are the plans to develop an AUS-NEP-VAN business venture? 3. Are you going to come back? Seems like heaven on earth where your at. Talk soon. Joe.
Hello homeboy, really good to hear from you. Taking your questions in order -1 the coolest part was definitely just gliding around. The feeling was incredible and I definitely want to do it again. Maybe we should look into organising a paraglide in Australia somewhere?
2- the AUSNEPVAN venture is still in the gestation phase. I have made contact with some serious movers and shakers on the Nepali scene, but it requires a man in Vanuatu to get things moving there too..
3- I wish I could somehow continue to earn money while doing nothing but travel around Nepal, but unless my employers agree to the proposition, it appears I will be returning to my homeland shortly.

any new photos
Hallo my anonymous friend of few words and fewer punctuational flourishes. There will be new photos coming soon, once I have moved them off my handheld camera and onto a computer that I can upload them onto Tumblr from. stay tuned!
In an Internet cafe in Chitwan and have been able to plug in my camera so here are a few more from Pokhara. Top and bottom are shots of Fewa Tal, Pokhara's main lake, while the midde one is a shot taken on top of a hill prior to my paraglide.
A few shots taken from the top of a hill in Bandipur today. Look into the distance in the first and third and you can see glimpses of the Himalayas. Sadly the iPad camera isn't up to much zoom wise but my eyes were delighted.
Pokhara, paragliding and pretty much nothing else
I've been in the town of Pokhara for the last few days and aside from going paragliding and wandering around the lake, I haven't been up to much. I'll put some video and fots from my paragliding up here eventually - the paragliding company burns 'em all onto DVD, but the iPad has no DVD hole nor do the computers in this town, so god only knows when they'll go up. Probably long after this tumblr ceases to be at all relevant. Today I am heading off to Bandipur, an old Newari town that is full of crumbly grand old architecture and peopled by those who stick to the old ways of doing things (bet they have wifi though). From there I will away to Chitwan national park down in the Terai plains where I will ride on elephants while wearing bejewelled turbans and being fed exotic fruits. I'm told there are tigers, rhinos and assorted other beasts there, but given how impossible it is to see the devils even when at the zoo, I don't hold out much hope. Still, whatever I see, you too shall see, faithful tumblr viewers/ void into which I'm typing this message. Namaste!
Couple of scenes from Durbar Square, Kathmandu. This used to be considered the centre of Kathmandu and the infamous Freak street was right nearby, but as the hippy movement faded the action moved to Thamel, the backpackers and bar zone.
Chariot built in Bhaktapur for the festival of Bisket Jatra - this is one of two which are raced round the town before being smashed into each other, usually causing at least a couple of deaths. Hey, could be worse: in some parts of Nepal, they have a tradition where any woman who is the wife of an eldest brother gets flogged with nettles on Bisket Jatra. This is done in the belief that it will protect the floggers from skin problems for the next year... Sound reasoning.
Ahhhhh the Garden of Dreams. An oasis of lush beauty in a city of filth and dust. Restored by the Austrian Government, bless 'em.
