I want to talk about the state of black liberation in modern society. The state itself is awful, terrible, unfortunate, and for the most part, controlled by people who don’t look like us. Take Black lives matter for example started back in 2013 by three talented black women who wanted to pursue justice for the victims of police brutality, has now become commercialized to the point of hilarity, co-oped by CEO’s and brands alike looking to attract black dollars, and co-opted by politicians looking to gain popularity, looking to gain your vote without any real effort towards the betterment of your people’s lives.
I want to applaud liberals and government officials alike for the level of skill and dedication they have shown for the status quo, for keeping black people in their place, for convincing us for about 300 years now that if we protest peacefully, if we integrate, if we give them our votes, forgiveness, and patience they will eventually get to us. You can look no further than the recent election to see how it works. A Jewish Democratic socialist runs for president, he wants free four year colleges, he wants prison reform, he wants black reparations on the table, he wants it all so to speak, and his own party works to discredit, they call him misogynistic for his loud voice and mannerisms, anything to stop him. Democratic leaders conspired no matter the damage to their own party out of fear that in comparison their own moderate-republican-like-policies- and candidates would lose their seats in the future. *
So you see the truth of the matter is they won’t give you any real liberty, any real justice because then you’d be less easy to trick, manipulate, and placate. Why would they give you 2000 thousand dollars when they can just say they will, take your vote, give you less, then slap a black lives matters sticker on top of it all, just so you vote for them again, next year.
I want black people and allies alike to drop the phrase peaceful protest from their vocabulary. It is nothing but a disguise for racist respectability politics. If you protest peacefully you are somehow more valid than if you don’t? Now when did white people ever protest peacefully to get what they want not during the American revolution, not during the french revolution, and not even now do they protest peacefully take the capitol riot, take one football game outcome they didn’t like, white people will burn the world when they don’t get what they want. White people in this country are afraid of us, that’s no secret, they are afraid that we will inflict the same trauma they have inflicted on us onto them. I would be scared too. But white people will always be afraid of you, of your intellect, and of the day you wake up and realize you don’t have to play by their rules. So they tell you Peaceful protest is the way, but peaceful protest is an oxymoron.
They give us the right to protest in this country, but then inflict a curfew on said protest, but they insist you have every right to protest as long as it’s peaceful, so you peacefully protest this newly imposed curfew, and you get non-peacefully arrested, shot, or beaten.
I want black people to realize they have just as much in common with the non-peaceful protestor, as they do the peaceful one. They both will be jailed, they both will be called savages in the news cycle, and they are both fighting for the same thing.
Next, I want to discuss how we need to promote self-actualization in the black liberation movement. No one in this world is going to give us anything nor will we find finical contentment or employment with white capitalist and their businesses. The challenge in front of us is a great one, most of us are in poverty desperately googling get rich quick schemes, only to find out in order to get rich in this country, you have to be rich. So they tell us if we just go to school the money will come, well you go to school, you graduate and now you’re broker than when you started. So you flaunt your degree around hoping for a leg up, but no one wants to be the first to hire- in their eyes- an inexperienced black person. The world is asking a lot of us we have to be smart, but not too smart, peaceful, and agreeable, but street and relatable as well. We need to invest in ourselves, and in our communities, and if not with money with arms, knowledge, and organization.
I really had no where to put this but I wanted to share my words with more than myself because I believe there's so much that needs to be brought to the forefront and its also black history month so id appreciate any self proclaimed allies to reblog but not comment on this post.
