This au and works associated with it is being abandoned. I don't feel comfortable working on it due to heavy features of Avid as the main character in the fic. This was probably a long time coming as life has been kicking my ass anyways, but then the situation came out and fully killed my love for this. It may get a Avid excluded revamp, it may not, I don't know and make no promises. I won't be deleting the fic, but it is getting abandoned and possibly orphaned.

Sorry for a lack of updates, life has been horrible and I have been trying to keep myself from collapsing!

One of the many things this spiral came with was a deep seething hatred for anything I write! Which as you can imagine, is not very good. So, in hopes of being able to get a new chapter out before the end of the month, I want to say that I am rewriting the current chapters of Legend Has It. Nothing drastic will change, not that I know of, but it should fix a few continuity errors and help me be able to tolerate my existence a bit more.

That being said, I'm still alive and I am currently writing again, so long as the curse doesn't get me, expect at the very least one of the rewritten chapters to be out soon.

Backstory fic, Scott's chapter, unnamed as I want to finish writing it:

That was when Scott decided he needed to pay attention to Joel, even if their relationship was strained, he needed to prove to his little brother that he cares. He found Joel in the training yard, slashing away at practice dummies. Scott could have sworn that he heard Joel talking aloud, and he feared that Lauren’s affliction was going to take away his brother too. “Joel, are you feeling alright?” “Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?” “You're talking to yourself, after what happened with Lauren I just-” “You what? You think I'm going crazy? That I'm mad?!” Joel snarled out, tightening his grip on his sword. He lashed out at the mannequin before him, cutting into the wood. “Of course not, this is perfectly sane behavior” Scott replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes and folding his arms in disbelief at Joel’s anger. Didn’t he know that Scott was just trying to help him? “I'm fine, Scott. Perfectly fine. Why wouldn't I be fine! Everything's always fine,” Joel spat, stabbing his sword into the ground before he turned to meet Scott’s eyes.

He should absolutely say something. What to say though? Maybe an introduction. He could introduce himself normally. Hello, my name is Avid My name is Avid, nice to meet you. I'm new to town, the name's Avid. What the hell is up with your eyes? When did you get that scratch? Why are you all staring at me? well im hoping the au wont take a Canon stride with how the ending of vapri went.. except maybe with the exception of Cleo and pearl relationship

After the new episode, what do you think would happen if a vampire bit or tried to turn a werewolf, or vice versa?

I've been thinking about this, I have in all honesty been struggling to decide what lycanthropy does to the body, but I think it would clash with vampirisim in this au.

I imagine that since both lycanthropy and vampirisim rewrite DNA in some way, it would end up creating the fabled Werepire. I imagine that no two werepire's are the same.

I'm thinking of this like a punnet square, which I may elaborate on more later, but yeah. Werepire.

aahh truffle being a zombie pig is very clever, i honestly just thought you should add truffle because in the series despite apo and pyro being close in the beginning they obviously started drifting apart after the turning and truffle was the only thing that kinda semi has them both connected (aka i forgot those 2 were roomates until i remembered truffle lol) truffle is like a child of divorced parents now that i think about it

I've done more research on the wiindigo/wendigo/ect and have decided that it does still fit Cleo the way I intended. Perhaps even more so given the personality reveal? It of course, won't be 100% accurate but it won't be like the inhuman monster thing portrayed in movies.

From what I've read over my hiatus, Wendigos are portrayed as a few things an evil spirit that influences others in order to create more wendigo, a concept (colonialism, destruction of forests, greed, violence, overindulgence), or a person who consumes the flesh of another.

Most of these have the same sort of "The more they eat the hungrier they get" mentality that I believe works well with Cleo! At the end of the day, no matter what version of the wendigo in the stories read, the wendigos still look rather human? Just a more iced-over emaciated dead one?

Most of what I read specified that they came from stories/books/papers on the Ojibwe, so I suggest looking there to find more of my interpretation source

Since that was the plan to begin with, I hope this helps convey my thoughts on using it in the story a bit more. Feel free to share more thoughts!

Still not sure about truffle, I'm leaning towards yes. Also!!!

Apo and Pyro were roommates because Pyro often visits town to the point he has a house in it. Currently, Apo still lives in the house with a guest room for Pyro to stay in whenever he visits for long periods of time

If you want a good wendigo depiction in media, I suggest looking at supernatural, s1ep1, it had the most accurate depiction of a wendigo i've seen. If you keep Cleo as a wendigo ofc

Hey just wanted to let you know that wendigos aren't how they're typically depicted in media. That is more aligned with a wechuge. Also, if I remember correctly, according to native American folklore, you're not supposed to speak of a wendigo.

No, hate just wanted to inform you. I would simply use wechuge or a completely different name. I personally use Mordeo since it was a popular depiction of that sort of creature.

I understand completely! I might alter things a little, and look into alternatives, but I was planning on going the evil spirit greed route that I have heard wendigos being on other posts talking about them.

No matter what I choose, I will be sure to do my research nonetheless! I will also start adding disclaimers to the fic(s) themselves to reiterate that I may not be having the most accurate depictions. Like I say in my posts, I am happy to accept corrections or specifications with the story being my interpretations of said mythos in mind.

TLDR: Don't worry I'm trying not to do the typical media depiction <3 and thank you for giving me more options to check out and more things to look at, I'm doing my best to be respectful to all cultures involved with these things ^^

Funnily enough, chapter 3 was supposed to release tomorrow, but upon some of the characters needing to be altered, it will be me going through and solidifying all of my choices for peoples supernatural being. I will be especially looking for proper storytelling about the wendigos as I decide!

How does Owen see Shelby and Pyro?

Wonderful question! Sorry for the late response, I was busy writing the fic. Hope this answers your question!

Owen is very much a step/half brother in this au. Unlike in canon, where humans are very much tearing them apart, Owen is much more confident in his place in the coven. Owen does care for the younger fledglings, but they still fight like siblings on occasion.

Pyro is immature, annoying, and a suck-up in Owen's eyes. Owen was worried about them turning against Scott and him, but as they got to know each other more he's found Pyro's traits endearing. Unlike Scott, Owen does entertain Pyro when it comes to Oakhurst history and interviews, he knows that learning is important to Pyro in a way that Owen cannot understand. That being said, he'll still tease and bully Pyro a lot, but he will attack anyone outside the coven who does the same.

Shelby, is also seen as immature. In Owen's eyes she gains the traits of stubborn and loud. Owen was much quicker to accept Shelby into the fold than he was Pyro, but that was mostly because (in this au) Shelby's turning was somewhat consensual. Owen thinks it stupid of her to cling so tightly to their humanity, of her refusal to drink humanoid blood, but it grows into more of a concern than something he hates about her. He sees Shelby as someone to guide, he feels a need to help her and provide for her (especially once he learns about her being an outcast) in a way Louis never got to for him.

To all eagerly awaiting my fic, I've been taking breaks in between writing the chapter due to a few gore heavy descriptions ^^ that being said, here's a taste of what to come

Tw: Graphic description of a decaying corpse, maggots, beetles, body horror(?)

It was her. Her eyes were empty, lolling to the side in a lifeless stare. Her skin had long since lost its color and was eaten through by flies and maggots. He couldn’t pull his eyes away as a carrion beetle clawed its way out of her nose, tunneling through the cartilage and exiting from her nostril. Her skin was somehow leathery and soft all at once, bloating in places and collapsing in others, like a balloon losing enough air that it started folding inwards onto itself.

As you can see, a little intense maybe. I had to take breaks because research leads you into strange places and I needed a mental break to prevent apathetic reactions that could endanger my method of writing.
