Thank you for your question, Night Court citizen! As you can see from our budget post, public safety in the Night Court is a large expenditure item!

The Night Court funds three armies, one in Velaris, one from the Hewn City, and the aerial forces in Illyria. City Guards are a large expenditure as the Velaris army camps outside the city limits. The Hewn City and Illyrian guards are smaller forces as the High Lord and CEO Rhysand expects the stewards of both provinces to use their armies to protect citizens.

It really feels like education of the Night Court citizens is not a priority. How do fae change their situations without more funding in education?

Thank you for your question! The Night Court (now the Night Ascending Group) values the education of its citizens. Currently, taxes funds the Illyrian war training camps, Velaris orphan's tuition fund, and the outer lands traveling tutors.

The educational model in Night Court is primarily based on privately funded institutions. We encourage fae parents to save wisely for their children's tuitions and select from one of the many private schools based on your child's aptitude and interests.

The Velaris bank also offers a savings program for fae parents with financial advisory services to plan ahead.

Is the difference in the infrastructure budgets between the Hewn City and Velaris the reason why most living situations still don't have indoor plumbing in the residences?

I am going to let our High Lord and CEO fill in the details on the reasoning of the allocation of infrastructure funds.

However, you are correct. The current infrastructure budget in the Hewn City does not allow for significant changes or increases in infrastructure. Installing plumbing or changing the configuration of residences in a city under a mountain does require significant funding.
