it was hardly a particularly difficult endeavour to convince frédéric to try out new food; he might not be always hungry the way his ‘cousin’ was, but food was one of the things that made him always feel adventurous — and finding the street food was a lot less dangerous than some of his previous antics to obtain rare ingredients. ‘ ‘ you think we can get curry? ’ ’ he mused aloud, offering her his arm. his parents and his teachers were long gone, but the manners they had sought to instill in him were still alive. not that it was hard to offer his arm to a woman as beautiful as joné. quite the opposite.
‘ ‘ i was on the campus last week, actually, ’ ’ he continued as he angled his head to figure out another light construction. without much success— whatever the artist had wanted to express with the rain of light, he could not see it. maybe it was just supposed to be pretty and he was trying to see a deeper meaning where there was none. ‘ ‘ i accidentally put a book into storage and needed to look something up, so i consulted the library. ran into a familiar face, actually. maybe we can sneak onto a roof for the best view? ’ ’
“ roof top curry. I think i know a building we can try “ Joné grinned.
That kind of suggestion was just what she wanted to hear. It was cool and romantic at the same time. Fred was becoming more and more dreamy each time he spoke. Oh god, was she falling in love? That thought was accompanied by some trepidation. It had never ended well, but it always did end. Joné was quick to push these thoughts back into a corner of her mind where they belonged. She was having a dreamy date, damn it! No bad juju allowed.
Joné looked at the light art because Fred seemed fixated on it, but couldn’t for the life of her make out why that might be. It looked dull. She had never been one to enjoy modern art when it wasn’t graffiti or pop art but perhaps Fred liked it? She kind of hoped not.
“ That light thing would be so much better in neon and black light. Club style. But i’m probably biased. “ she added thoughtfully
