I think I may have realized something: if Natsu being E.N.D. is something the whole guild comes to know, there's no way Mirajane won't be somehow involved as someone who specializes in Demon Take Over. Maybe she does a reverse Take Over with Gray into Natsu's soul so they can destroy E.N.D. without actually killing Natsu? Hey, crazier things have happened in this manga *coughtimetravelcough*

Talking about Sabertooth ships today, I couldn’t help but notice how the three I have myself share a very funny trait in common - it seems like all of their guild marks are of the same or at least similar color of their significant other’s hair.

But I won’t read much into it.~

Rogue's mark is black because he's the SHADOW DRAGON SLAYER.

Minerva's first Sabertooth mark was blue. Chances are, that black Tartaros mark was decided for her by Kyoka.

I started reading Fairy Tail in the middle of Tenrou Island, so I don't really know - exactly what kind of backlash was there when Lisanna came back from Edolas?

I still can’t get over what Silver said as he walked away from Natsu and Lisanna. “Natsu, of all people,” or something to that extent. Did he know Natsu was E.N.D. the whole time? If so, did he think that Natsu’s soul was distinct from E.N.D.’s? Did he tell Gray to destroy E.N.D. knowing whether there was a way to kill the demon while saving the human? Hopefully Mavis reveals something related to that in the coming chapters.

We only know that Silver saw the GMG on the final day, WHICH NATSU DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN. In fact, I believe that was the first time Silver even realized Gray was alive!

I kinda hope we'll get more Elfman and Lisanna screentime if only so we can see what the real difference is between Beast and Animal Souls. I mean, we've seen bear and giraffe Take Overs for Elfman, as well as a mermaid one for Lisanna... Come to think of it, Elfman's only done partial transformations for what should be animals Lisanna should be able to Take Over... Maybe you can do limited versions of other kinds of souls but only do full Take Overs of what you specialize in? I guess so. I mean, even the mermaid one would just be a fish tail, maybe some gills?

Okay, I’m never one to tell people what they can and can’t ship, and especially not in a fandom I’m barely even in like Steven Universe, but seriously, why the fuck do people ship JasperxLapis?! Do you not realize that’s a borderline abusive relationship?! Lapis only agreed to fuse with Jasper to protect Steven from her by trapping them both at the bottom of the ocean! And “Chille Tid” only reinforces the idea with Lapis chained down in the Malachite Realm, symbolizing the need to keep Jasper from taking over control! Garnet even lampshades how fucked up their relationship is, and considering she’s a permanent fusion, she knows a thing or two about Gem relationships!

Seriously, why does the SU fandom glorify this ship?! Am I missing something here?! I’m not trying to rant about my NoTP, I’m literally asking what about this ship appeals to people, because I literally can’t see any redeeming factors here!

Because some people like to ship screwed up ships, while acknowledging they are screwed up relationships. Nothing wrong with that.

Okay. Fair enough. But the problem for me is, all the JasperxLapis stuff I’ve seen plays the ship all cutesy and stuff like that (something I’d expect out of NaLu or NaruHina or Korrasami. I feel like, rape parallels aside, the relationship would at least be vitriolic to some degree. The closest I’ve seen to that is a comic where Jasper asks Lapis if she likes her, Lapis says no, then says Jasper never asked if she loves her, so Jasper asks, and Lapis still says no. There are some ships that just can’t be sugarcoated, and this is one of them. I’m not going to say you can’t ship it, I’m just saying sweet doesn’t work for it in any medium.

A lot of people in this fandom like to say that shipping a ship fucked up is the same as glorifying or tacitly supporting rape and abuse as romantic. I know of at least a few artists and writers who ship them fluffy at least in part thanks to the backlash against shipping terrible people being terrible together. And at least some others who like it fluffy because they like the show’s themes of redemption and forgiveness, and like the idea of a future where Lapis and Jasper can come to a mutual understanding and also make out. And then some who just like how they look together, and would rather not touch the shitty cannon relationship. Size differences are very attractive to a number of people, plus blue and orange are complementary colors. Sooo, yeah. Peeps ship the thing a buncha ways for a buncha reasons.
