today i got a message on instagram from a stranger who had tracked me down to let me know that he had gotten this piece of art tattooed on his arm. he had found it doing a google search of national lyrics, and my art was what he liked the most of everything he found.

he wanted to find me and let me know and show me a picture of his new tattoo, and it made my day. absolutely made my day.

so now there is a person several thousand miles away who i’ll never meet with my handwriting and art tattooed on his body.

there are a lot of days where i’m sort of okay, where i’m resigned to this new normal of being stuck alone at home, keeping busy doing a job that is nothing like my real job because that’s what my employer needs me to do during quarantine times

and those days i feel like i can function and even enjoy things sometimes and not like i’m drowning

but then the other days i am drowning, or maybe it’s more like being eaten from inside with the anxiety and uncertainty and loneliness and stress and just rage rage rage

and those are the days where the absolute absurdity of what life has become will suddenly hit me, as i’m carefully putting on outside clothes to go for a walk where i will talk to no one and touch nothing and then come home and strip down and wash carefully so that i don’t get a scary disease before i go back to sitting in my bedroom alone, missing everyone and trying not to lose my mind
