I often think about Ara and Lev and how she genuinely thought he was the one and that she loved him so much. And vice versa.
I struggle with making them have a bad fallout because there was love. It was real. It wasn't always bad. And I've always like the idea of them ending in good terms whatever the au/canon. Despite not ending together. And like it is possible for others version of them. But in this verse though... It's just meant for them to end badly.
Too much hurt. Too much resentment and like, is not justified of course it isn't. But is the choices they made regardless of being justified or not.
Like okay, they met they fall in love, find out they're each other's bond companion. Decide to get together and keep the relationship secret. But he never really can trust her, because she was his mission. And then Ara always trusting blindly in Mal (who killed Lev's siblings which Ara knows nothing about). Despite her not knowing, Lev dislikes that she will choose Mallory over him and holds resentment towards Ara for that.
But Lev lying about who he is, with whom he allies himself with. Hiding his real name and him keeping the mission going for years regardless of falling in love or not. Being the one that contacts Choi Dae-Hyun and giving him Ara's location so she'd be "punished" for cheating. And while he wasn't "expecting" for CDH to do what he did to her; Lev knew from the beginning what was the type of torture the man did.
Mind you, knowing or not doesn't justify his actions regardless of this. Ara cheated on their wedding night. A horrible thing to do. Lev waits five years later to confront her and then hand her information to a mana notorious for torturing people like. That's your wife that you love. Yet you have no remorse, knowing she could've gotten killed.
And then when she comes back and trusts you to be the only person she can count on. To care for her kid, you decided to "save yourself" by telling the bad guys everything and handing over the baby. Which comes to bite him in the ass cause he's not granted freedom for this though.
Like, from the beginning. Even after falling in love, he still held too much resentment towards Ara that were out of her control and even some that were in her control but have come to pass and he did nothing for years. And lie about his identity and all of that. Is like... How do you expect her to forgive him? She cheated; once. That was it. Lev knew all along who she was, what was her job. Everything. What did Ara know of him? Nothing.
And i just think that while her resentment builds later on, mostly after being cloned. She's the one rightfully angry out of the two. And after everything there's no way she can forgive him for the lies, the betrayal and even if (and that's a big if that's really a no) she forgave him for giving her info to CDH that one time, Ara would never forgive him for endangering her daughter.
