I love Oh! Great. It was just a matter of time until I would cosplay something out of Biorg Trinity. 

I really like Bellwood. She is actually quite a cliché character from him but that's why I love her so much. Also she is cute and a super-S! Right, Sir-Master?

Again hardly any updates because I'm moving... AGAIN. I fell like the only thing I did the last 3 months was unpacking my stuff to repack it again. But finally I can see an end to all this.

One of the biggest cons in germany is in 4 weeks and I will be attending as Rogue in the "X-Men vs Avengers" Version and finally in my Momo costume. I'm so excited <3

How to make sure what wigs sold on Taobao/Aliexpress look like in real life

You’ve maybe heard of Aliexpress. It’s an online shopping website where as a cosplayer you can find a big variety of wigs (among others), almost always cheaper than on ebay. Why is it so cheap? Aliexpress belongs to a Chinese company Alibaba that manages a whole lot of popular Chinese websites and applications, most famously Chinese biggest online shopping website called Taobao.

Thus, the wigs you buy on Aliexpress (their international shopping portal) come directly from China and are sold for much cheaper than on ebay. Consequently, the sellers you can find on Aliexpress you can also find on Taobao, selling exactly the same products.

Now why is this information relevant? When ordering something, you’d want to know if the seller is good and whether the wig actually looks the way it does on the pic. Problem is, many products on Aliexpress are not rated at all. BUT if you really want to be sure, you can go on Taobao and find the same product there, including ratings and maybe even pics of the product taken by buyers.

Few days ago we wanted to buy a wig that looked great on the photos provided by the seller. We double checked on taobao and found out by looking on reviews that the wig actually looked nothing like the seller suggested. Saved disappointment and time!

 The pics above show how to navigate taobao to find reviews and pictures taken by buyers.

One question remains: how to find the same product? That’s the trickiest part. There are tutorials explaining how to search for things on taobao. A few tips: if you’re looking for wigs, the Chinese word is 假发, then you can narrow down by adding the color (look it up on google translate) or the name of the anime and/or name of the character (you can look up the Chinese naming on wikipedia).

The process may be a bit time consuming, but it can really improve your wig shopping experience on Aliexpress!

Australian Cosplayer Scene Alert: Bryce Dulaurent

At SMASH! over the last weekend, one Bryce Dulaurent (Blackiichann) was posing as a cosplay interviewer. During these interviews, he would act lecherously - an example of this would be his asking for a kiss on the cheek, then turning to kiss them as they did so, turning an already gross and pressured experience into a sexual assault. 

During these interviews, he would also ask extremely inappropriate questions on topics such as the cosplayer’s sex life and whether cosplaying got them laid - this also extended to him requesting sexual acts from cosplayers. When requested to stop with inappropriate questions or mentioning relationship status, he would ignore the requests and continue. He would also pose for photos with cosplayers and proceed to grope the cosplayer he was posing with. He would deliberately stand with his hand just above the cosplayers bum or chest when posing with them. 

You can see in the second attached photos that this was one of the videos he posted, which he was or is also looking to post to a YouTube channel. However the original Instagram preview has since been removed after he claimed they “weren’t assault”.

Reports around the con scene have made it known that he’s also done this at Sydney Supanova. As the 2014 Vice-Convenor of AVCon, I suggest if anyone sees this guy at any conventions, you immediately report him to staff or a higher officer of the event to have him escorted off site and/or contact the appropriate authorities. If you experience his behaviour and you are willing to do so, you can also submit an incident report to the event organiser.

All Australian cons have been alerted to his behaviour and are in discussion for how to make Australian cons a much safer place from people and behaviour like this.

Nearly finished Skeer Cosplay. I still have no clue were my fabric for Blitza is but one costume I'll be wearing at CosDay is almost finished. So happy right now

My upcoming cosplays: Blitza and Skeer. 

  Thanks to the fact that I moved last week and everything is still packed I have no clue were my fabric is. I start to panic a little bit because there are only a little more than 3 weeks left and I didn’t started to work on my costumes at all. And I also wanted to build some props.

Thankfully I have some free time on my hands but I really don’t want to buy new fabric or doing overnight shifts. Let’s hope I will find my fabric soon so I can start working on them.

I was really busy with work and writing job application letters and drawing stuff for my university portfolio last month. I hadn't the time to sew at all.

So here is at least a little progress of my Mahiru costume. I only have 6 days left: Time to panic.
