EDIT: the strobe effect here was inspired by effects in Lylat Wars. idk if other people remember this but some of the targets on bosses (I specifically recall the targets on andross’ hands at the end) were given a red/blue strobe. as strobes go it always fascinated me because the red and the blue are so at odds that they sort of create a mysterious third “colour” by flashing back and forth. it’s hard to look at but I always liked it.
