How accurate would you say Floyd's and Rook’s nicknames for everybody are?

I don't think I have the time or energy to analyze every single one of their nicknames (that would be like 50 😭), but in general I don't think nicknames are "accurate" to anyone. They're usually based on a single incident/in-joke or significant trait and don't or can't account for nuance.

Like... come on, Rook's nicknames for Ace and Deuce are just "Monsieur Heart/Spade" and that's entirely based on their card suits. The "Roi" title is granted to dorm leaders due to their positions rather than saying anything meaningful about the way the individual leaders rule. Silver's nickname is all about his sleepiness, Cater's is about his obsession with social media, etc. Nothing about Silver's devotion to family and friends or his kind heart, nothing about Cater's loneliness or "other" personality, etc.

Floyd, meanwhile, picks and chooses a single physical attribute or behavior to hone in on for his nicknames, when, in reality, the different creatures he references are so complex the nickname cannot capture the full scope. For example, otters are notoriously territorial and can be violent, and actually prey on eels and octopuses. Kalim obviously doesn't fit those descriptors, yet Floyd still calls him that due to how Kalim bashes drums. Grim is a Baby Seal just because of his roundness, with zero consideration for other seal traits and behaviors. Riddle is red like a Goldfish when he's mad.

I want to be clear, there isn't anything wrong with nicknaming others. It's just that, by the nature of what a nickname is, they're too short and compressed to be a distillation of everything that an individual is. There's no universe in which this would be achievable.

Hello Miss Raven. So, do you think we'll ever see Rielle in some event or possible book 8 or 9? We've already seen many other non-NRC characters, but the mysterious Rielle hasn't appeared yet. In my opinion, he could have appeared in Eternity Float and Port Fest.

What do you think is the reason we haven't seen him yet?

Book 8, most definitely not. I don’t see the relevance in introducing a character twisted from Ariel in a book that is (I assume) supposed to focus on Grim and Yuu’s relationship + Yuu going home. (There’s still the big RSA vs NRC spelldrive/magift tournament happening, but we don’t have official confirmation that Rielle is a RSA student.)

Book 9… potentially?? But that’s mainly because we don’t know where the main story may go after book 8.

As for an event… maybe, but I think the chances are low. Events do have the possibility of introducing characters that were previously discussed in “hometown” (a misnomer, since not all of them are hometowns) events, but the vast majority of them were family members and if not a family member, then someone closely tied to the “hometown” SSR. Rielle just does not have that strong connection, and nor is he really discussed out of one or two passing lines. (This is not true of Chenya and Neige (or even Cheka) who are mentioned multiple times over by other characters and already have physical appearances in the main story; all three of them also are very closely related to main cast characters, whether as family, a childhood friend, or a long time rival.)

Rielle not appearing in Port Fest or Eternity Float makes sense to me when you look at the event. Port Fest wasn’t a “hometown”, so no new character was introduced. Georgina took the spot in Eternity Float; multiple new characters do not occur in “hometowns”. He just does not have relevance to Jack, and minimal relevance to Jade (the only relevance being the one photo they took at the museum as kids). We don’t even know if Rielle is canonically a RSA student (although many fans do assume) or if he would have a reason to be on Sage’s Island. The Sunshine Lands/Coral Sea makes more sense, but he has no reason to be attending a random couple’s wedding. We don’t know his age either, but assuming that he’s around the same age as our NRC boys, it may be a little weird if Rielle was the one getting married.

I don’t really think there’s a special reason for keeping Rielle out of the spotlight. It feels like just a basic “he’s not important/needed right now” or “introducing him wouldn’t enhance the story/make sense”, or he just doesn’t fit in well with the patterns Twst has already established in their events. Maybe we’ll see him one day, maybe we won’t—but it definitely does not feel like a priority to the devs.

Hi I recently put an ask but I forgot to add a few things sorry 😭

In book 4, when Jamil overblot, I remeber this scene where he whooped Yuu and the gang to the end of the desert and Jade said something like "I believe we're at the edge of the dimension that contains Scarabia Dorm." I don't really know much about this but does that mean the dorms are all just pocket dimensions they shove in the dark mirror? Idk if this has any significance but I'm just shocked considering how op it is. Also, idk how big Scarabia's "dimension" is but I also remember Kalim somehow managing to make a flood with his UM that went from the edge of the dimension up to the dorm where they live and stuff. And that really made me think how powerful his UM actually is considering the fact that he only needed little magic to make an actual flood. It also made me think how much stamina Floyd and Jade has since they swam through all that.

Yes, each of the seven dorms are contained in their own pocket dimension though it’s implied rather than outright stated. Considering all the crazy things magic can do, it’s not that far out of the realm of possibility if done by a particularly powerful mage. (We’ve seen Malleus pull off time stopping, right? 😂)

Just a quick correction, the dorms are not traveled to via the Mirror of Darkness. Each dorm has its separate mirror as pictured below in the Hall of Mirrors. Heartslabyul’s portal is shown here as an example:

The Mirror of Darkness is kept in its own location (the Mirror Chamber, which is NOT the same as the Hall of Mirrors despite the similar name). It is NOT used for travel to the dorm dimensions, but rather for travel to different locations across Twisted Wonderland. For example, the Mirror of Darkness is used for traveling to various hometown locations in those events.

To give you a rough idea of the distance between the Hall of Mirrors (dorm travel) and the Mirror Chamber (world travel), here is where both are situated on a map of Night Raven College.

Regarding Kalim! Yes, his UM, Oasis Maker, allows him to produce a large amount of water for a smidgen of magical power. He didn’t flood the desert though, he just produced enough water to form a river the twins could swim all the way back to the Scarabia dorm building. It seems that Kalim doesn’t recognize the true potential of his UM; he says it’s pretty useless since his home country, the Scalding Sands, already has the infrastructure for potable water and waterways.

The twins having a lot of stamina doesn’t surprise me at all. They’re part moray eel, which is a predator animal. Their merforms are also very long and lithe, which is ideal for darting around in open waters.

How do you think Leona would react to the idea of veganism?

Wellllll 🙂‍↕️ considering that he uses “herbivore” as a blanket them to refer to others (and look down on them; it’s not an endearing nickname) and the fact that the guy hates vegetables himself (according to him, carnivores only eat veggies when they are sick or unwell)… I can’t say I’d see him being very enthusiastic about the idea?

He might think it’s weird to choose this lifestyle, no matter what the reasons for it are (health, ethics, etc.). Maybe he’d scoff and make some sarcastic remark about how it’s fitting to see an herbivore partaking in “rabbit food”.

Can you confirm if Maleanor really did bless Malleus to be feared by humans or not? I hear people say it a lot but not sure where that’s from. Thanks in advance if you answer this!

The whole “Malleus’s mom blessed/cursed him to be frightening to humans” idea originates from lines Maleanor delivers in 7-77: “Malleus shall be the star of fortune who shines down upon the fae of Briarland… And likewise shall he be the star of misfortune that humans will fear […] Night’s blessings.” (There is a gap for additional dialogue + interjections from other characters before she says “Night’s blessings”.)

Fans theorize that she anticipated the conflict with humans continuing even after Malleus hatched. She therefore blessed him to be feared by humans as a protective measure. However, the dreary future she predicted ended up not being the case, and her son lives in a relatively peaceful era—so her “blessing” actually backfired and became more of a “curse” that isolates Malleus from his peers and prevents him from forming proper bonds. This would explain why Malleus is so often accidentally forgotten or intentionally left out of events despite being such a renown mage and important individual; Maleanor’s supposed blessing/curse is causing this.

It’s hard to tell because of the limited game assets (and we don’t yet have the manga or anime adaptation of this scene to know for sure), but… personally, I don’t think this “blessing”/“curse” is real. It becomes clearer if we compare 7-77 with the scene in which Lilia meets baby!Silver (which has an explicitly confirmed blessing which easily parallels Maleanor’s) in 7-81 (part 1): “Son of the Dawn Knight, today is your new birthday. As such, I shall bestow upon you a special gift. Night’s blessing.”

Here, Lilia also says the phrase “Night’s blessing”, which appears to be a term in Briarland (or at least among nocturnal far?) which seems to be a way to wish good luck or best wishes to others. Then sparkles come across the screen and Silver’s hair color changes to express his newfound blessing. The sparkles are proof of the blessing taking effect.

A similar sparkle effect plays after Maleanor’s declaration. However, the difference is that it is accompanied by a chiming sound and her sprite disappearing from the screen. (It’s hard to convey this via screenshots alone so I recommend you look up a video or play the game yourself to witness it.) This implies to me that the sparkles in 7-77 are NOT the same sparkles of a blessing, but rather the result of Maleanor teleporting herself away to face the Silver Owls.

Let's also look at 7-337, which occurs right after Malleus returns from his OB and Lilia is on the brink of death.

Silver pleads with Lilia to open his eyes, but… Lilia doesn’t. Suddenly, there’s a bunch of sparkles, and Grim notes that Silver’s hair has changed color.

“Eh… hair? Oh no, no way/it’s impossible… My father’s blessing is gone…”

This implies that blessings die out with the blessing giver passing on. And Maleanor is confirmed to be dead, so 💦 even if she had cast a blessing on Malleus at some point, it would not be in effect when Malleus is born since she is no longer around to sustain the blessing.

We see this more accurately reflected in Malleus’s interactions with his peers too. While humans (mainly NPCs) do fear him, there there many exceptions to the supposed “curse” or “blessing”. These include, but are not limited to: Kalim, Rook, Silver, Sebek (half human), Yuu, Leona, etc.

In summary, Maleanor blessing Malleus to be feared by humans is a fan theory, not technically canon. It's not something I believe in myself, but you should look at both sides that I've laid out in this post and come to your own conclusions!

Ahhh thank you so much! Extremely happy to hear that!

I post everything there is to know about our AUs here and on twitter, but there isn’t much: these AUs aren’t as thought out as, for example, our shingeki AUs; this is why we don’t even tag them. It’s more like having concepts we play around with, with the stories still being vague and pliable in our heads, even though we do have rough directions for them. That’s why we don’t really write long posts and descriptions for our twst AUs. I guess, just dropping random scenes based on our discussions of these AUs with little to no context is too much fun lol

We’ll probably have more AUs, we really love creating them, but for now we’re too focused on consuming all the canon stuff (vignettes, events, etc). But still, these are the AUs that we have for now:

AzuIde Marriage AU. This is the one we post the most.

Azul and Idia get married for convenience, and this marriage is indeed very convenient for both of them: Azul gets all the legal perks + a personal genius inventor who can easily bring him lots of profit; Idia gets to play videogames all day and not to do much else. He also doesn’t have to socialize at all: Azul does all the socializing for him, making presentations, networking, getting investors and such.

They’re amazed by how perfect their marriage turned out to be: both of them are very happy. Idia’s life is stress-free for once; he has all the time in the world for himself and indulges in games heavily, not worrying about having to communicate with anyone other than Ortho and his gaming buddy. Azul is doing his own thing, spending all days working, talking to rich people, doing shady stuff, expanding, expanding and expanding his business franchises. But the thing is, by enabling each other to live in this self-indulgent comfort zone and giving each other “that one thing that he craves”, they make each other the worst version of themselves. Idia becomes even more of a hermit; Azul becomes even more obsessive and unhinged.  This is why it’s a perfect marriage, but also a horrible one. It kind of depends on how you look at it, thus they are very happy in the funny strips, but the bad ending is still a thing that could happen. Actually, there could be more than one bad ending, some of them involve these two staying together lol

2. Prison AU. Pretty self-explanatory: some characters are the inmates, some characters are the guards. This AU kind of has multiple universes inside of it at this point lol, just because swapping characters’ roles is fun. The main “route” is inmate!Floyd/guard!Riddle though.

3. Catherine AU? Kind of. The one in which Idia takes the role of the main character of the said game (Vincent); Azul is his long-term boyfriend (Katherine) who wants him to get his shit together, find a better job, marry him and live together already; and Lilia is a mysterious cute-looking guy who seemingly just wants to be with Idia and have fun with him (Catherine). Hilarity ensues. I would’ve drawn more stuff for this AU if we remembered the game better, but still.

What happened to Ortho in the bad ending marriage au and what exactly did idia do?

I can’t believe how invested you guys got in this Bad End scenario lol Thank you for your interest!

Idia realised that his life is suffocating and unbearable and that he can’t stay with Azul anymore, so he ran away, obviously with Ortho.

I can’t tell you what exactly has happened to Ortho, but the tweels weren’t lying: he is alright and safe. Azul knows better than to mess with an android that can shoot lasers out of his eyes. He’d rather try to talk to him and find some kind of a compromise, ensuring Ortho that both of them just want Idia to be happy.

And to Idia, he would say that sparing Ortho is Azul being benevolent, as if it shows how he doesn’t want poor Ortho to get mixed up in their conflict with Idia. Contrary to Idia himself, who got his poor little brother involved in this mess. Full of shit as always, that Azul.

This is a very kind message, Anon!! This is very sweet that you find these aspects of my drawing unique and appealing, I am very happy to hear that. I’m still working on my render, lineart and other stuff, so it’s very reassuring to hear that it looks good  <3

It’s definitely going to take me some time to properly write and maybe even illustrate some tips…so I’m posting your reply now, but I’ll come back to it later! If anyone else is interested or would like to add a question related to this topic, please feel free to send a message.

Hi Anon!

It depends on how exactly you define witch hunting, Anon, but in general, yeah all the time. I feel like the only reason we don’t get as much hate right now is because we haven’t been posting regularly for more than a year lol I know there are people who get even more severe of a treatment, and frankly I think we’re lucky that the worst thing we got were “callout” posts and anonymous harassment, but it would be a lie to say that it’s not the worst part of posting online. Same happened to us in other fandoms as well, so twst wasn’t our first rodeo (snk being the worst one). We’ll get this treatment no matter which fandom we are/will be in.
