“Respect is standing up for what you believe in and confronting people who have not been held accountable for their behavior. Respect is learning a life lesson and growing from it. It is the ability to move away from those that are toxic but still be there in supportive ways, because even though you know they don’t care about you for various reasons, your heart will always be bigger than theirs. Respect is knowing that those that feel they deserve an award for teaching you how to let go have never truly learned lessons for themselves. Respect is realizing that love is not all you need and it won’t be true if it does not consist of righteousness, respect, honesty or humility. Respect is never forgetting what people meant to you even if those people choose to forget. Love isn’t a thing, it is a feeling. It is an expression of words, honesty, compassion and your ability to show mercy and respect for others. That’s a code for living. And that’s the code I vowed to use for myself and to reach out to those that need to be reassured that things will be ok. Remember you earn respect when you give it back. Life is about working, trying, putting in an effort into reaching goals and dreams and being there for others in supportive ways.”
