i hate when something violent happens to a right wing politician and every left leaning pundit and politician gets on their soap box about how "violence isn't the answer" as if the right wing ideology doesn't inherently encourage violence.

"his son just had his first birthday" they're separating families. they're attacking trans people. they're building concentration camps. they send "thoughts and prayers" for school shootings and don't enact real change to prevent others. they have stood by israel, which is bombing nurseries. they stormed the capitol and physically harmed others. and i'm supposed to be sad he got shot at?

I am fully aware that there is no audience for this in 2025 but teen me healed at being able to do this promotional photograph of Amanda justice, finally. After give or take 12 years. Started a rewatch of Nikita earlier in the evening, combined with combing through @nikitafreakinmears their blog ... led to this. I need to get used to her face again. I haven't drawn her in a long while, but this made me happy.

Random but just thinking about how weird and freeing it must have been for Amanda to finally pick out clothes for herself after not having been able to for the first almost-two decades of her life. Is it any wonder she enjoys dressing for the occassion now? :P

This is such a good point. Especially with how much she talks about clothes, appearances and how we present ourselves being a weapon, etc, I bet that she got a great sense of bodily autonomy from picking her own clothes and curating her look.

the cw nikita season one was so comically romantic. michael, a high ranking officer, is tasked with capturing and killing nikita. every episode he runs into her and either she outsmarts him (all the time kinda) or he can't bear to arrest her (because of love). so every day this loser reports back to his fucking boss that he has lost this woman again and somehow he is still the head of the "assassinate nikita" division. and michael's boss believes him because nikita is feared for a reason. her godly reputation is literally keeping michael's pathetic ass employed. i miss this show so bad

Spoiler Alert for Arcane Season 2

I'm watching Arcane Season 2 and I feel like comparisons could be drawn between Madeleine Pierce being like Councilor Kiraman, Sean being Caitlyn, and Jinx being Nikita and I really like the show, but I feel like Nikita handles the loss of a shitty parent much better? Like, Sean mourns his mom, but he doesn't become a fascist about it and then kind of have Alex (the undeniable Vi of the situation) justify it and the show justify it. I remember Sean saying 'you tried to kill my mother' and Nikita saying 'your mother's a bitch, Sean.' and we're all like 'yeah she kinda is'.

I'm rewatching S2E23 Homecoming and when Nikita lands in Amanda's office and she says "we're not ready to let you go" and I may have been drinking but it just feels like all my trauma and memories with my family and they're never ready to let me go, but here I am. And here you are, lovelies. The horrors persist, but so do you.
