               The Colorlessness of Then and A Colorful Now

Deathcab for Cutie's epic song A Lack of Color, used in the soundtrack of my favorite series back then, The OC, is a wonderfully creative and simple number on one's life having a certain proverbial "lack of color" when faced with living without or losing one's love interest.

It was absolutely one of my favorite songs while I was in college, what with the ups and downs and emotional teenage days gone by. I was happy to have just stumbled upon it while browsing through YouTube :) 

One part of the lyrics I really loved back then was this:

"To call at 7:03 and on your machine I slur a plea for you to come home But i know it's too late I should have given you a reason to stay Given you a reason to stay" <repeated 3 times>

Nostalgic and emotional, I was reminded of the events that lead to me really loving the song, I remembered that I was desperately moving on from a failed non-relationship. I know, its crazy, add that to my list of mishaps as a young one.

2 Things I know now that I wished I had known then:

1. I shouldn't have entertained the thought of having a boyfriend or MU (not the usual mutual understanding but it's actually "magulong usapan!") for that matter. Why? First of all, I was a student and not in any way ready to get married, which is the only reason of getting into a relationship.

2. It made me think that I did something wrong that's why it was never made "official bf-gf", which is in turn, totally wrong. I later realized that it was totally the man's fault for doing pakilig-kilig and just papansin, not the style of real manhood that lays down real intentions and checks out the self at the door. Only when I became a Christian did I understand what true love is, and it was totally not and far from the MU thing, or even a premature relationship. True love is always present no matter what the circumstance, its always pursuing, and always gentle, it builds you up and is not hurting. Real love warrants what's best for you, not what he can or cannot get. One such and perfect example is the love of God. :)

Spent time mentoring these two Korean youngbloods who have amazing hearts for the needy. :) Oh, and what's crazy is that they are more fluent in Bisaya than me. Haha. :D

    I have always loved this song, even from the minute I first heard it! Awesome and inspiring lyrics combined with an extremely catchy and fresh melody trumps all other sound trips for the day, for the year even.
