“Ha! Ah hahahaha! That’s, that’s a real good question!”
Her smile was nothing but fake, her laughter hollow and devoid of mirth, but clouded by obvious nerves.
“I…I uh, the weather’s lovely ain’t it? Heheh…heh…”
Dreary grey only embraced a sign of life by the sliver tufts of cloud floating in a mournful procession as rain chattered outside the window. It’s thuds became rumbles, lightening striking before a belch of thunderous roar.
Seizing her drifting pieces of courage, she forced them glued back together as her body dared push itself a little closer, her eyes fixed.
“Forget about the song, I get it. Honoka and Nozomi talk like that more than enough. The truth is, would you like to go somewhere with me? In, in a completely friendly way, duh!”
The glint in her eye spoke otherwise, but this girl didn’t seem likely to get it. If she did, Niko might as well text Nozomi to call an ambulance.
♫ } The weather? It was nothing but nice. The crack of thunder furthering her point.
Nico seemed to be sweating buckets, her voice cracking as the time together progressed. Usually, Nico was calm && collected, but suddenly she was shivering in her boots, Why was Nico-chan who could tackle the world with nothing but her tiny stature suddenly so nervous?
“The weather’s awfully gloomy for this time of year, in all honesty.” she twirled her hair between her fingers, uninterested in the conversation at hand. Until Nico stopped acting so strange, Maki was going to give half attention.
“Go somewhere with you? Like a date?” suddenly, pale fingers went from twirling hair to covering the blush beginning to grow on her cheeks. “Nico-chan… I… don’t know what to say.”
Sure, Nico was adorable, but did Maki really want to go on a date with her?
