I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.
It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.
But it was not until a few nights later, when I watched a man pull a knife out of his walking stick, and press the blade to his brotherâs breast bone, that I said to myself, Lestat unpack your trunks. Youâre home.
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 2.07 I THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 1.03
As a society we have benefited so much from successful public health measures that we now have the privilege of declaring that we must not need them anymore
Bitch before enriched flour, neural tube defects like spina bifida were far more common. Even now, spina bifida clinicians and researchers are begging to have salt and maize fortified to reach groups that donât use as much flour. Before iodized salt, the United States had a fucking GOITER BELT. Eleven years after the introduction of fluoridated water, a city in Michigan found the rate of dental caries among school children dropped a staggering 60%â in an era where tooth decay regularly fucking killed people
Iâm literally not even going to start on vaccines, which are among the most successful and robustly studied public health measures in world history
You might say âoh well today we all have access to vitamins and toothpastes and dentists so we donât need those things in our food suppliesâ and boy do white people on social media loooove to fucking say that. But hereâs the thing: no, people donât all have easy access to those things. Thatâs privilege talking yet again
does anyone feel like they want to be punished just so they would stop feeling like they are about to be punished for something. like then at least it would be over. or is it just me
Since there is a wave of anti-birth control propaganda, this is your reminder that the birth coontrol pill was responsible for 30% more women graduating with college degrees between 1970-1990
Also a whole lot of people need it to hold down a job or stay in school regardless of reproductive risk: it offers menstrual control. It can be the difference between debilitating, bedbound periods and normal function. Itâs medicine. Itâs also very cheap to produce and returns soooo many thousands of dollars to the economy for every dollar it costs, so donât let anyone make a false financial argument about it.
every year I post this meme and every year people get more mad at me than they did the previous year

I have to defend overhated women characters with my life this isnât a game to me anymore dog Iâm so serious
The other day my wife told me about this influencer who said she needed to go on ozempic so she could go from 130 lbs down to 115 and I really cannot stress the degree to which we have so COMPLETELY lost the plot with this glp1 shit. Like not only are people are going on this shit for purely cosmetic purposes, the cosmetic purposes are delusional. This is the kind of mindset that gives people eating disorders but now because you can get a prescription instead of having to starve yourself or enduce vomiting a big swath of the general public seems eager to go along with it. Body Positivity did not go fucking far enough because I am being so real when I say that fatphobia is more of a public health crisis than obesity has ever been
People making a choice feminism argument for Ariana Grande looking skeletal have me feeling like this
why didnt you call the cops or cps?
how about this: when i was 9 and my stepdad beat me until i passed out and i told my friends at school, my teacher over heard and i was interviewed by cps. they also went to my house when i was at school. when i got home, my step father was waiting on the couch, and told me who visited him that day. he told me if i ever snitched again he would beat me to within an inch of my life.
how about this: my mother locked me out of the house when i was 14 and when i cried so loud the neighbors called the cops, the cop told me i should have been respectful of my mother who was trying to sleep.
how about this. the demon you know is less scary than the demon you donât.
children in abused households are raised to fear the idea of being taken away. children in abusive households see that help makes things worse.
dont you ever blame an abuse victim for not going to the authorities.
yes this okay to reblog!
Also, a lot of abused children donât realize that theyâre being abused or the extent of the abuse. Itâs their normal. Their minds are formed by their experiences and if all theyâve known is one existence it can be difficult to recognize that itâs wrong
It can be difficult to realize that âbetterâ even exists. This is part of why fiction can be life-saving. If you can read stories about happy families, loving families, sometimes you can hang on long enough to find or build a loving family for yourself.
thinking bout 2019 and how i took her for granted
Whatâs my Political Party?
Iâm Pro-Nature. You know, protect Mother Earth? Land Back? Giving the land back to the stewards of the earth with ten thousands of years of oral history. Silenced and Genocided, and weâre lead to believe theyâre all gone. But Iâm learning thatâs propaganda and their way of life is not gone and they deserve their rightful place as our leaders. This is our only home.
Good morning,
museums should repatriate artifacts belonging to living cultures and display reproductions instead
Good afternoon,
no one is entitled to the sacred art, tools, or costumes of another culture (save members of the culture itself) and nonsacred reproductions will serve just as well for the purposes of education and appreciation
Good evening,
having museums full of reproductions would be even cooler than having museums full of sacred artifacts because when modern craftspeople are able to replicate those artifacts, itâs usually because they still make the same items the same way today
this means that you could have description tags emphasizing that such-and-such item has been made by these people in almost the same way for hundreds of years
having museums full of beautiful reproductions takes the emphasis off of Things and places it on the People who make them, which is really as it should be
