me: relationships where "nobody understands me like you do" are often romanticized, understandably - most of us yearn for human connection, enjoy being loved and cared for, and want to be special and unique to the people we care about in a way that nobody else is, that is distinctly us and ours - but that's also the most horrifying thing about them. that someone understands you, genuinely and truly knows you as well as you know yourself, and you understand them. that level of intimacy is terrifying. you could use it offer each other things no one else can, but you could also use that knowledge to destroy each other, intentionally or otherwise, and until you start to communicate and establish boundaries that's a significant risk. because when someone knows you like that, you can't be anything but sincere and vulnerable with them, unable to hide anything, and you have to bear the weight of being able to see through them in return. truly knowing someone means accepting that there are parts of them you dislike and/or are just incompatible with and having to come to terms with that and decide if you can live with them anyway. and decide if you can trust someone else with those parts of you. and i would love to see more of that acknowledged.
creator: okay but these characters have matching scars/marks to show they went through something together that nobody else will ever understand. and did i mention they also have feelings for each other?

“all my grief says the same thing:this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. and the world laughs. holds my hope by the throat. says:but this is how it is”
— Fortesa Latifi (via madgirlf)
Just out of curiosity, do you like prologues? Why or why not?
my favourite thing about writing is slipping in totally innocent lines that will absolutely DESTROY the reader on a second readthrough

ive been debating how early i can kill off a character without wrecking my (precarious) plot and i might just fuck it all and scrap the character in draft two of a&a altogether
— Rainer Maria Rilke, tr. by C. F. MacIntyre, from Duino Elegies; “The Second Elegy,”
Grief paralyzes. Motion continues; time departs. Something’s left with no means to retrieve it. A candle out in the down-clap of darkness. Then to wade and wade—
In grief: I, detached from place and time.
— Yanyi, from “Dream of the Divided Field,” Dream of the Divided Field
does the ending recontexualise the beginning, that’s the question.
Tag the oc who copes with feeling sad by being really nice to everyone around them
.
might fuck around and become a symbol of death and rebirth, creation and destruction, beginnings and endings or something idk
“all powerful entity falls head over heels for the first shit ass mcnobody who dared to call them a bitch to their face” is, perhaps not the absolute best trope but it’s definitely up there I’d say

my favourite characters are kind ones. ones that are bleeding and broken but still smile at their scared companions beside them. ones that would go to the ends of the earth to save humanity because they think it's worth it. the ones that upend their entire quest and double its length just to save a few others. the ones that started out selfish and cold and cruel but let kindness thaw their hearts. i just really really love kind characters and the stories that would collapse without them
