I have personal Headcannons for Jay which I will hold onto till the day I die, who would have guessed as he's my favorite Ninja

anyways... Ripping off the bandaid for any transphobes to go away, I like the idea of Jay being trans, FTM or just leaning trans-masc like I am :D

But I love the idea that he didn't exactly have the words for what he was feeling growing up and always just thought he was a tom-boy in his early years and his parents absolutely just don't care as long as he's happy, so he was cutting his hair short and binding before he knew what any of it meant, still just thinking it was a tom-boy esc thing to do and when Wu recruited him, he just used he/him pronouns as an assumption and Jay really *really* realized when that happened that he was a boy and so just never corrected Wu since he was technically the correct one and it's just a thing he kept hidden for the longest time, it would also explain why he's always shown wearing a shirt when swimming and things.

But after a while it's figured out by the other Ninja on some capacity, and Jay is scared senseless the others will think he's a freak, but atleast one of the other Ninja; Kai, I also love Trans Kai personally knows exactly what he's going through and actually teaches Jay proper ways to bind or just things to appear more masc presenting, like makeup contouring and cutting his hair a specific way.

One thing that their trans experiences absolutely differ in, was when Kai asked Jay what he'd want his name to be now that he knows hes trans and Jay just replies with something to the effect of "Oh, I like my name, Jay just fits me" so his name doesn't change <3

Bonus: Of course when he comes out to Ed & Edna, even if he's scared they might reject him, they don't.... They're just happy their son is happy, I think they'd be super supportive and do lots of research to understand what Jay is going through and appologize for ever making him think they wouldn't accept him for things out of his control

Out of all the Ninja, Jay is the most hard on himself, the smallest and shortest of the group he feels inadequate and sometimes pushes his limits to far with his abilities.

He often forgets that his element and body type is built for quick and fast strikes and for endurance not just pure strength

Time for a Headcannon I'm sure lots of people already agree with, but I don't mind talking in circles!! Jay is my favorite character after all

After Once Bitten Twice Shy, everyone thought Jay went back to just being human and so did he, but it only cured most of the outward facing Serpentine traits, Jays canine teeth are sharper but he didn't notice it till a few days after and they started catching on his lips and causing him to bleed, he started to prefer the warmth rather than the cold, finding himself sick easier when it gets to cold for too long and many more small things.

Jay realized after about a week of the symptoms and immediately had to tell the others, thinking there could be a fix, but his body has all but gotten rid of the venom that caused the problem in the first place, they still tried but Jay has grown used to this 'set back' so to say and the others aren't bothered by it anymore than he is, getting very used to the changes.

One thing that Jay hasn't realized yet is that with being part Serpentine, he's actually resistant to poisons and venoms.

Though one thing that popped up after that Jay is a bit embaressed about, is the urge of wanting to hiss at things that he finds scary, he kept it pretty well hidden till Kai scared the crap out of him in the monestary during the evening and he just let it out and they just stared at each other before Kai immediately went to go tell the others while Jay begged him not to.

Kai isn't the only one with anger issues on the team, though much more level headed, Cole also has issues with his anger as well

Where Kai's is much more volatile and all consuming when he's in a rage, Coles anger comes out when he's at wits end, when he feels like they've lost but he's tamed his anger enough to not let it burn out of control like Kai's temper seems to let him, very rarely is Cole mad at someone in particular besides villains more than it's a situation he's found himself in, the only downside to this is that he tends to get pretty angry at himself when getting stuck in rough situations and he lets that anger fuel him to find a way out of what ever he's in.

Nya also has a temper, but her is more of an ebb and flow, definitely not as volatile as her brothers temper, but also not as situational as Cole's, Nya mostly shows her temper when she's working on something and has given up due to the project proving to much and just as the show tells us when she first becomes a ninja, she gives up to easily after that point.

Kai's anger is a raging fire, out of control and can be all consuming.

Cole's anger is an earthquake, isolated and situational incidents, honed into specific places and can be small or much larger depending on how he feels.

Nya's anger is the ebb and flow of the water, it can be all consuming or it can flow down a creek gently, the state simply changes as the body of water is being held.

Each of the orignal Ninja have scars related to their powers due to pushing/being pushed too far, Kai has a few burn scars from his fire abilities, Jay has lichtenberg figure scars (The name of the pattern that lightening causes when striking an object) Zane has given himself an unhealthy dose of frost bite, but luckily since he's a nindroid he didn't lose any limbs due to it, tho his first body did receive enough damage from it after finding out he was a nindroid that his finger tips to his wrists coating that allowed him to look human wore down to show the metal underneath, and last Cole, they tend to look more generic, but Coles injuries are mostly related to falling/scraping and just enduring more than he though be could handle in a particular situation, and injuries like a broken nose where you can tell it was broken due to its crookedness and things like that

Zane doesn't need to sleep, but he still partakes in needing to "recharge" his bettery for a lack of a better term, but he's first up in the mornings.

Kai is normally next, he sleeps and wakes with the sun, he tries to stay awake longer at nights but no matter what, his circadian rhythm end up with him falling asleep rather early (or late) depending on the season.

Lloyd has a pretty ridged sleep schedule, in the winter months he tends to get up before Kai, usually up around 8AM and falls asleep at 8-9PM, the other Ninja call him a grandfather for it despite being the youngest.

Nya is fairly good at keeping her sleep schedule, she goes to bed at a decent time, probably 8-10pm at the latest and wakes up around 8-9AM in the mornings, she doesn't stray to far from her schedule and is fine with it.

Cole & Jay tend to fight for who's last to wake up, but Jay tends to sleep in longer then Cole, Coles a heavy sleeper, while Jays lighter, but Cole still gets up at pretty regular times, the only time Jay gets up is if he forgets to close his curtains and the light streams in to his room or he gets rough sleep the night before, Jay is more of a night owl then Cole tho, which is why he wakes up the latest most times.

Morning Drink preferences:

Coffee: Kai & Nya

Tea: Zane

Both: Cole

Neither: Lloyd & Jay

Lloyd & Jay both hate how bitter coffee & tea can be, the only way Jay will drink coffee is if it has so much sugar dumped into it, Lloyd on the other hand refuses to drink either at all, unless he's sick and he's made tea to help him sleep/with sickness

Kai drinks his coffee black, everyone else thinks he's absolutely insane for it, Nya did find it funny the first time he drank coffee around the rest of the Ninja and they all physically recoiled when he poured his coffee and drank it straight.

Jay and Cole are the least picky eaters out of the group of the six ninjas, Jay still beats Cole because he has very weird food combos he swears tastes good but everyone understands nothing about his taste buds and how he stomachs some of it, Cole on the other hand is just a foodie and enjoys trying new food me too Cole even if he can't cook very well himself, if Zane cooks new things, he lets Cole taste it first because he gives his honest opinions.

For the pickiest eater, it's definitely Lloyd
