sometimes I think about how Chain of Memories went for Sora vs Riku.
This is a story of poor Sora being dicked around from start to finish, and then forgetting it at the end.
He's used as a pawn in the Castle Oblivion infighting the whole time, he gets false memories implanted, loses his real ones, gets so obsessed with Naminé that her conscience is the only thing that keeps him from getting his brain wiped clean, and at the end he has to go in the coma egg to get his heart repaired for a whole year. Sora does most of Axel's work for him, and he's not even going to remember it. Axel+6 Sora+0
CoM is a long streak of cathartic wins for Riku. He gets to face all his demons and beat them all into dust and come to terms with the dark power he commands and discover how he can use them for good and help the world in a way only he can and accept himself like he never has AND ride off into the sunrise with his new dad, Mickey Mouse. This felt wish fulfilment-y and I am saying that as a compliment
